How we score
The BestBots Score, the five factors behind it, and the rules every page follows.
Every bot on BestBots gets one number from 1 to 5, the BestBots Score. It is built from five factors, each graded from facts the company publishes or that verified users report. We do not sell scores, and a company cannot pay to change one.
The five factors
| Factor | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Value | 25% | Price against the category median at the same volume, free plan or trial, and whether pricing is published at all. Quote only pricing caps this factor at 3.0. |
| Features | 25% | Coverage of the features buyers in that category compare, such as appointment booking and live agent backup for receptionists, or per resolution billing and human handoff for chatbots. |
| Trust | 20% | Verified user ratings and how many there are, security and compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA), company track record, and any regulator action or lawsuit we find. |
| Ease of setup | 15% | Published setup time, no code setup, documentation and onboarding. |
| Integrations | 15% | Native integrations with the CRMs, calendars, phone systems and help desks buyers in that category use. |
The score is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal.
Where the facts come from
- The company's own pricing page, documentation, help center and terms, opened by our researchers and linked on every page.
- Verified review sites such as G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, the App Store and Google Play. We list the rating, the number of reviews and the month we checked. We skip listings with fewer than 10 reviews.
- Regulators, court records and reputable publications when they matter.
Every price on the site shows the month we checked it. Prices change often, so the AI Price Index and every pricing table are rechecked monthly.
What we do not do
- We do not claim lab testing we did not do. When a page says a bot can book appointments, that is what the company documents, and the source is linked.
- We do not estimate prices. If a company only quotes on request, we say so.
- We do not show a lower score above a higher one in a ranked list. When editorial order puts a bot higher, the displayed scores still step down slot by slot.
How lists are ordered
Order is editorial. We rank by fit for most readers of that page, using the verified facts above. A guide for law firms and a guide for HVAC companies can rank the same bots differently, and that is the point.
Money
BestBots is reader supported. Some links pay us a commission when you sign up, and partnerships can affect which companies appear and where. They never change a published fact or a factor grade. Read the full disclosure.
