Apollo.io is the best AI SDR tool for most teams in October 2026: one seat gets a contact database, unlimited sequences, AI research and a dialer for $65 a month, or $49 billed annually, with a free plan. If you want the AI to run outbound by itself, Reply.io's Jason has the clearest price at $500 to $800 a month.
Our top picks
How to choose
"AI SDR" covers three different kinds of product, and the first decision is which one you are buying.
Autonomous AI SDRs pick prospects, research them, write and send, follow up, sort replies and in some cases book meetings. Reply.io's Jason, AiSDR, Artisan's Ava and 11x's Alice sit here. You pay for outcomes you hope to get, so the pricing is usually per contact or a monthly retainer.
Outbound platforms with AI built in give you a database, sequences and AI writing, but a person still sets the targeting and strategy. Apollo, Lemlist and Amplemarket sit here. They are cheaper per contact and give you more control.
Infrastructure tools do one layer extremely well. Instantly and Smartlead send email at volume from many warmed mailboxes. Clay finds and enriches data. They are the building blocks that many teams stitch together.
Then check four things on any shortlist:
- Data source and accuracy. Where do the emails come from, and are they verified before sending? A bounce rate above a few percent damages your domains fast.
- Deliverability setup. Who buys and warms the domains, how many mailboxes you get, and whether warmup is included or extra.
- Channels. Email only, or LinkedIn, calls and SMS too. LinkedIn automation is often a per account add on ($69 a month at Reply.io).
- Commitment. Monthly, annual, or a pilot with a break clause. The best AI SDR price is almost always annual.
Our picks, in detail
- Starting price
- $65 per seat per month
- Price per seat
- $65 per month (Basic, monthly) or $49 billed annually; Professional $99 or $79
- Contacts or credits
- Free 900 credits per year; Basic 2,500 per month; Professional 4,000 per month. Email 1 credit, phone 8 credits
- Chrome extension for prospecting on LinkedIn; no listed LinkedIn message automation
Apollo puts a B2B database, unlimited sequences, a dialer, deliverability tools and AI research behind one seat price: $65 a month, or $49 on annual billing, with 2,500 credits a month. There is a free plan with 900 credits a year and a 14 day trial, and every limit is on one public page. For most teams starting outbound, it is the cheapest complete stack.
Pros
- A real free plan with 900 credits a year and 2 sequences, plus a 14 day trial of paid plans
- Database, sequences, dialer, meeting scheduler and AI research under one per seat price
- Every plan, credit cost and limit is published on one page
- Professional removes the daily send cap and allows unlimited Google and Microsoft mailboxes
Cons
- Trustpilot reviewers repeatedly report inaccurate or outdated contact data that has to be cross checked
- Basic is capped at 250 emails a day and 1 mailbox per user, so volume senders must jump to Professional
- Credits expire every cycle, add on credits renew automatically, and downgrades are not refunded
- Annual plans cannot be switched to monthly until the term ends; billing and cancellation complaints are common
Skip it if you want the AI to run outbound on its own, or if data accuracy is mission critical without a second verification step.

Price to work 1,000 new prospects a month
Headline prices hide very different scopes, so here is the same job priced across the tools that publish enough to model it.
- Reply.io Jason Starter: $800 a month, or $500 on annual billing. Data, writing, 2 LinkedIn accounts and reply handling included.
- AiSDR: 1,000 x $1.50 = $1,500 a month, plus $33 per warmed mailbox if you buy them there. Volume pricing up to 40% lower on the Team plan for 1,000+ contacts.
- Apollo Basic, 1 seat: $65 a month. 2,500 credits covers 1,000 email reveals with room to spare, but a person writes the sequence, and Basic caps sending at 250 emails a day.
- Instantly Starter bundle: $94 a month. 1,500 lead credits and 5,000 sends, enough for a 3 to 4 step sequence to 1,000 people, with the AI Sales Agent included.
- Smartlead Base plus your own list: $39 a month covers 2,000 verified emails and 6,000 sends, so 3 touches to 2,000 people.
The pattern: a true AI SDR costs $500 to $1,500 a month for 1,000 prospects, while a self run stack costs under $100 plus your time. The AI SDR premium buys research, writing and reply handling. Whether that is worth it depends on what an hour of your SDR's time costs and on how many of those prospects turn into meetings.
AI SDR vs human SDR
A human SDR in the US costs a salary plus benefits, tools and ramp time, and works one channel at a time during business hours. An AI SDR works every prospect in parallel and never forgets a follow up. That is the pitch.
What the reviews show is more mixed. The tools are good at the repetitive parts: list building, first drafts, follow ups and sorting replies by intent. They are weak where judgment matters. Verified Trustpilot reviews describe an AI that targeted a senior Google manager because he once worked at a smaller company (11x), and positive reply rates as low as 0.07% after several months (Artisan). Neither vendor publishes independent reply rate data.
The practical setup for most teams is hybrid: an AI SDR or AI assisted platform handles volume and first touch, and a person takes every positive reply, qualifies it and runs the call.
Data quality and deliverability limits
These two issues come up more than any feature in verified reviews, across every tool in this list.
Data accuracy. Apollo's Trustpilot reviewers (3.1 from 1,369 reviews) repeatedly say records are incomplete or wrong and need cross checking. Clay's approach, querying many providers in sequence, exists because no single database is complete. Whatever you buy, verify emails before sending. Reply.io sells validation from $20 a month for 5,000 checks and Smartlead from $32.
Deliverability. Instantly reviewers report campaigns that stalled after warmup and domains landing in spam; Smartlead reviewers report blacklisted domains; one Apollo reviewer says a 90 day warm up period was enforced after purchase. Treat warmup as necessary but not sufficient. Use separate sending domains from your main brand, keep each mailbox to modest daily volume, and watch bounce and spam complaint rates weekly.
Lead data limits. Reply.io's self serve plans include just 50 data credits a month, and Lemlist's $20 add on buys 400 emails. If you need thousands of new contacts, price the data separately before you compare plans.
Red flags
- No public price and a required annual contract. TechCrunch reported in March 2025 that 11x required one year contracts for pilots with a three month break clause. Ask for a monthly pilot, or at least a written break clause and the exact exit date.
- Logos you cannot verify. The same report found ZoomInfo and Airtable logos on 11x's site after short trials; 11x said they were removed after human error. Ask any vendor for two customer references in your industry.
- "Unlimited" with a fair use policy. Reply.io's unlimited mailboxes and Apollo's unlimited sends both sit under fair use terms. Read them.
- Credits that expire. Apollo credits reset every cycle and do not roll over, and its add on credits renew automatically. Clay lets credits accumulate up to 2x.
- Hard cancellations. Billing and cancellation complaints appear in reviews of Instantly, Smartlead, Apollo and Reply.io. Note the cancellation path before you pay.
How we picked
We started from the vendors buyers search for most in this category and the ones the current top results rank, then opened each vendor's pricing page and recorded only what it lists. We read each vendor's Trustpilot profile for its score, review count and recurring complaints. G2 and Capterra listings blocked automated access in October 2026, so we did not use their numbers; where a vendor quotes its own G2 score, we left it out.
Ranking weighs value (25%), features (25%), trust (20%), ease (15%) and integrations (15%), graded only from those published facts. See how we score. We did not run campaigns on these tools; we compare published prices, documented features and verified user reviews.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI SDR?
For most teams, Apollo.io. It gives you a contact database, unlimited sequences, AI research and a dialer for $65 per seat a month, or $49 on annual billing, with a free plan to start. If you want the AI to run outbound end to end, Reply.io's Jason has the clearest published price at $500 to $800 a month for 1,000 contacts.
How much does an AI SDR cost?
Published prices range from $1.50 per prospect (AiSDR) to $500 to $800 a month for 1,000 active contacts (Reply.io Jason Starter) and $2,500 a month for 5,000 contacts (Jason Growth, monthly). Artisan and 11x do not publish prices. Third party blogs report 11x deals above $3,000 a month, which 11x has not confirmed.
Do AI SDRs actually work?
They automate research, writing and follow up well, but results depend on list quality, deliverability and offer. Verified reviews include complaints of very low reply rates, such as 0.07% positive replies on Artisan and zero meetings from 9,000 messages on 11x. Run a 30 to 90 day pilot with a clear exit clause and measure meetings, not emails sent.
Will an AI SDR replace my human SDRs?
Not fully. AI SDRs handle list building, first drafts, follow ups and reply sorting at scale. Humans still win at discovery calls, complex objections and judgment on fit. Most vendors, including Artisan, now pitch the AI as handling repetitive outbound so reps spend more time in live conversations.
What is the difference between an AI SDR and a cold email tool?
A cold email tool such as Instantly or Smartlead sends the sequences you write from mailboxes you warm up. An AI SDR also chooses who to contact, researches each person, writes the message and handles replies, and some book the meeting. Many cold email tools now add AI agents, so the line is blurring.
Are AI SDRs bad for email deliverability?
They can be. AI SDRs send more email from more domains, and the most common complaints in reviews of Instantly, Smartlead and Apollo involve spam folder placement or blacklisted domains. Use separate sending domains, warm them up, verify every address before sending and keep daily volume per mailbox low.
Which AI SDR has the best data?
No single database wins. Clay pulls from 150+ providers in waterfalls, which usually finds more valid emails than one source. Apollo, Lemlist (650M+), Instantly (450M+) and Artisan (250M+) each use their own database, and Trustpilot reviewers of Apollo report inaccurate records that need cross checking.
Is there a free AI SDR?
Apollo has a free plan with 900 credits a year and 2 sequences, and Clay has a free plan with 100 data credits and 500 actions a month. Neither is an autonomous AI SDR on the free tier. AiSDR lets you build campaigns free and pay $1.50 per prospect only when you launch.
