Review guidelines
How reader reviews work on BestBots, and what we publish.
Reader reviews on BestBots come from people who have used the bot or product they are reviewing. They sit next to our own research on each review page, and they are kept separate from the BestBots Score.
How it works
- You write a review and give your first name and email.
- We email you a link to confirm it is really you. Your email is never shown.
- A person on our team reads every review before it goes live, usually within two business days.
- Once published, your review shows your first name, your star rating and the details you chose to share, with a Verified reviewer label because you confirmed your email.
What we publish
We publish positive and negative reviews the same way. A company cannot pay to remove a review, hide a low rating or move a review up the page. Ratings shown on a page come only from published reader reviews.
What we reject
- Reviews that are not based on your own use of the product
- Reviews by employees, owners, contractors or competitors of the company
- Reviews written in exchange for money, credits, discounts, gifts or any other incentive
- Personal information about anyone, including phone numbers and addresses
- Threats, hate, harassment or profanity aimed at people
- Spam, links, ads, duplicate reviews and reviews about a different product
Changes and removal
If you want to change or remove your review, contact us from the email you used. If a company believes a review breaks these guidelines, it can contact us and we will look at it, but we do not remove reviews just because they are negative.
Why we do it this way
The FTC's rule on consumer reviews bans fake reviews, buying reviews and suppressing truthful negative ones. We follow it, and we would rather show fewer reviews than show reviews we cannot trust.
