Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is the best cordless robotic pool cleaner: it skims the surface for up to 10 hours and cleans the floor for up to 5 per charge, maps with an AI camera and carries a 3 year warranty. Pick the Aiper Scuba X1 for fine dust and the Beatbot Sora 70 for most of the coverage with stronger suction.
Our top picks
How to choose
With the cord gone, four things decide how happy you are with a pool robot.
- Runtime per mode. Brands list separate numbers for surface, floor and walls. Compare the floor figure first: 5 hours on the AquaSense 2 Ultra and Sora 70, 210 minutes on the Spino E1, 180 on the Scuba X1, 100 on the Seagull SE.
- Charge time. About 4.5 hours on Beatbot and 4 on the Scuba X1. If you want to run it twice a day, that matters.
- Retrieval. A dead robot at the bottom of a 7 ft deep end is a hook pole job. Look for surface or waterline parking.
- Filter chores. Cordless robots come out after every run, and you rinse the basket every time. The AquaSense X station does that for you.

Cordless vs corded
Cordless robots took over the category because you drop them in and walk away: no cable to tangle, no swivel to untwist, no power supply at the edge. The best also skim the surface, which corded robots do not do. The tradeoffs are a charge between runs, a battery that ages, and lifting the robot out every time.
Corded robots like the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus run as often as a weekly timer says and never wait on a battery. Choose corded if you want the robot to live in the pool on a schedule; choose cordless for coverage and convenience. Our overall pool robot guide ranks both.
Picks by pool
| Your pool | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Large in ground, leafy yard | Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra | Skims up to 10 h, 3,444 sq ft per cycle |
| In ground with fine dust, sand or algae | Aiper Scuba X1 | 3 micron MicroMesh, 6,600 GPH |
| Mid size, in ground or above ground | Beatbot Sora 70 | 6,800 GPH, skims up to 7 h |
| Owner who hates rinsing baskets | Beatbot AquaSense X | AstroRinse empties and rinses in 3 minutes |
| Small in ground, up to 1,600 sq ft | Mammotion Spino E1 | 210 min floor runtime, 2 year warranty |
| Flat above ground pool | Aiper Seagull SE | 7.5 lbs, one button, wall parking |
Battery care
Charge after each run rather than storing the robot empty. Keep the charger or dock dry and out of direct sun; Beatbot's dock is rated IPX4 while the robot is IP68. Rinse saltwater off before charging, because salt on contacts causes charging faults. In the off season, store the robot indoors with the battery partly charged and top it up every month or two. Confirm that replacement batteries are sold for your model; Aiper sells them for the Seagull SE.
How often to run a cordless robot
In swim season, two or three runs a week keeps most pools clean, plus an extra run after storms or pool parties. Robots that skim the surface (the Beatbot picks) can run longer surface sessions on leafy days, since floating debris is caught before it sinks. Fine dust and pollen are where a 3 micron filter like the Scuba X1's earns its place. Each run ends with the same chore on every cordless robot except the AquaSense X: lift it out, empty and rinse the basket, and put it on the charger.
What it costs
BestBots does not list prices for robots sold on Amazon or retail. Each pick links to the current price. The ownership costs that differ on cordless robots:
- Battery replacement: the biggest long term cost on any cordless robot.
- Filters: 3 micron filters clog faster and are replaced more often than coarse baskets.
- Clarifier refills: the AquaSense line's ClearWater system.
- Warranty length: 3 years on Beatbot, 2 on Mammotion, 1 on the Seagull SE. On a battery that lives underwater, length matters.
Red flags
- Runtime without the mode. "Up to 10 hours" on the AquaSense 2 Ultra is surface skimming; the floor figure is 5.
- Missing warranty terms. Aiper's Scuba X1 product page does not list one.
- Renewed listings. Renewed units carry their own, lower ratings.
- No retrieval feature. Robots that die mid pool mean a hook pole.
- Pool size per cycle vs total. Beatbot rates 3,444 sq ft per cycle and 3,875 sq ft over several.
How we picked
We compared the cordless pool robots most often named in top search results and US retail listings in October 2026, using brand spec pages and Amazon listings for battery, runtime, charge time, coverage and warranty, and Amazon listings for ratings with counts. We did not test these robots. Ranking favors runtime and whole pool coverage, then filtration and warranty. Scores follow /how-we-score.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best cordless robotic pool cleaner?
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra: up to 10 hours of surface skimming and 5 hours on the floor per charge, AI camera mapping, five cleaning zones and a 3 year warranty. For fine dust and sand, the Aiper Scuba X1's 3 micron filter is the better tool.
How long do cordless pool robot batteries last per charge?
On our picks, from about 100 minutes (Aiper Seagull SE) to 5 hours on the floor (Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra and Sora 70) and 10 hours skimming the surface (AquaSense 2 Ultra). Brands rate runtime per mode, so compare floor to floor.
Are cordless pool cleaners as good as corded?
The best now match or beat corded robots on coverage, and they add surface skimming that corded models skip. Corded robots still win on unlimited cycles and no battery to replace.
How long does a cordless pool robot battery last before replacement?
Brands do not publish battery lifespans in years. The battery is the main wear part, and warranties run 1 year (Seagull SE), 2 years (Spino E1) or 3 years (Beatbot). Check that replacement batteries are sold before you buy.
How do you get a cordless pool robot out of the water?
Most park themselves: the AquaSense 2 Ultra parks at the surface, the Spino E1 parks at the waterline and the Seagull SE parks at the wall. A hook on a pole helps if one stops mid pool. Beatbot bundles a caddy with the AquaSense 2 Ultra.
Can you leave a cordless pool robot in the pool?
Not between charges, since it must come out to charge. The AquaSense X is the exception that docks at a station. Rinse saltwater robots in fresh water after each run.
Do cordless pool robots work in saltwater pools?
Beatbot lists saltwater up to 5,000 ppm on the AquaSense line. Check the spec for your model and rinse the robot after use either way.
