The short answer
These two solve the same pain, a calendar that fills with meetings until no real work fits, from opposite directions.
Reclaim is a calendar layer. It sits on top of Google Calendar or Outlook and adds movable events: focus blocks, habits, tasks synced from Asana or Jira, buffers and smart recurring meetings. Nothing about your other tools changes.
Motion is a planner that owns your work. Tasks and projects live in Motion. It knows each task's duration, deadline and dependencies, puts them on your calendar, and replans when the day changes. It also takes meeting notes, writes docs and runs project timelines.
- Choose Reclaim for the lowest cost, a free plan, and when your team's tasks already live elsewhere.
- Choose Motion when you would otherwise pay for a project tool, a planner and a note taker separately.

Specific head to head scenarios
A developer or analyst who needs deep work blocks
Winner: Reclaim. Set a weekly focus target and Reclaim books and defends it around meetings, free on Lite. Motion can do this indirectly by scheduling tasks, but you pay $19 a month and move your task list to get it.
A founder running tasks, projects and meetings alone
Winner: Motion. One app plans the day, tracks projects, takes meeting notes and drafts docs. Reclaim would need a separate task manager and note taker to match.
A team on Jira or Asana
Winner: Reclaim. It reads tasks from those tools and finds time for them on each person's calendar without asking anyone to change systems. Motion would mean migrating the task system or keeping two.
A small agency planning client projects
Winner: Motion. Business AI adds capacity planning, Gantt charts, dashboards and time tracking, so you can see whether a project fits before you commit to it.
Someone with personal and work calendars on different providers
Winner: Reclaim, narrowly. Its Calendar Sync is built to block time across calendars, and syncs are unlimited on Business. Motion merges Google, Outlook and iCloud in one view, which is the better pick if one of your calendars is iCloud.
A buyer who wants low risk to try
Winner: Reclaim. The free plan lets you judge it with no card. Motion's trial converts to a paid plan, and its help center says purchases are non refundable except at its discretion.
Privacy
Both list SOC 2 Type 2. Reclaim states it does not train AI on customer data and offers SSO and SCIM on Enterprise. Motion says data is encrypted in transit and at rest; its pricing page and homepage do not address model training. Both need write access to your calendar. Reviewers of both apps complain about unexpected calendar changes (Reclaim) and billing (Motion), so configure carefully and calendar your trial end.
Verdict
For most people, Reclaim is the better buy: it is free to start, roughly half Motion's price for teams, and it works with the calendar and task tools you already have. Choose Motion if you want one app to own your tasks, projects and meeting notes and you will commit to living in it; for that buyer it can replace two or three subscriptions. Both are ranked against Calendly, Cal.com and Sunsama in our best AI scheduling assistant guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is Reclaim cheaper than Motion?
Yes. Reclaim's Lite plan is free for one user, Starter is $10 per seat billed annually or $12 monthly, and Business is $15 or $18. Motion has no free plan and lists Pro AI at $19 and Business AI at $29 per seat.
Can Reclaim replace Motion?
Only if you are happy keeping tasks in another app. Reclaim schedules tasks synced from Asana, Todoist, Jira, ClickUp, Linear or Google Tasks, but it is not a task or project manager. Motion is both.
Which works better with Outlook?
Both support Outlook. Motion supports Office 365 and Exchange Online but not on premises Exchange, and notes Outlook sync can be slower than Google. Reclaim lists Outlook Calendar and can sync availability between Outlook and Google.
Does Motion or Reclaim have a meeting notetaker?
Motion includes a meeting notetaker with summaries, action items and follow up emails. Reclaim does not list a notetaker; pair it with a tool from our best AI note takers guide.
Which is better for teams?
Motion for teams that want shared projects, Gantt charts and capacity planning in the same tool. Reclaim for teams that want Smart Meetings, a team out of office calendar and focus time across people who already share a task system.
Which has the better refund policy?
Neither publishes a generous one. Motion's help center says purchases are non refundable except at its discretion. Reclaim's Trustpilot reviewers also mention trouble cancelling. Start on Reclaim's free plan or Motion's trial with a reminder set.
