Free uses v6-mini, allows audio uploads up to 8 minutes and has no stem separation. Accounts that joined before September 3, 2026 got up to 7 lifetime trial downloads.

Pro adds the v6 and v6-wild models, 2 stem types, custom models and voice recording.

Premier adds Suno Studio with MIDI, effects, automation and design your own plugins, 30 minute uploads, 3 stem types and advanced vocal and instrumental tools.

Credits vs downloads

Credits decide how much you can generate. Downloads decide how much you can keep and release. Since September 3, 2026, downloads are the tighter limit on both paid plans.

Plan Generations Songs Downloads Songs per download
Pro About 250 About 500 20 About 25
Premier About 1,000 About 2,000 60 About 33

You need to spend a download on a song before you release it commercially. Paid plans can buy extra credits and downloads in the app; Suno does not list those prices on its pricing page.

Annual vs monthly

Yearly billing takes 20% off the monthly rate: Pro drops to $6.40 per month ($76.80 a year) and Premier to $19.20 ($230.40 a year). Suno's page labels the savings as $24 and $72 a year, but at the listed per month prices the saving works out to $19.20 and $57.60, so confirm the total at checkout. Credits still arrive monthly and do not roll over, so yearly billing only makes sense if you use Suno every month.

Worked examples

A YouTuber who needs 10 background tracks a month. Pro covers it: 10 downloads of the 20 allowed, and plenty of credits to iterate. Cost per kept track: $0.80 on monthly billing.

A songwriter releasing 4 songs a month and demoing 40 more. Pro's 20 downloads cover releases plus favorite demos. Each download costs $0.40 of the subscription.

A producer finishing 50 tracks a month in Studio. Premier: Studio exports are unlimited, so the 60 download cap is not the limit.

A hobbyist sharing songs with friends. Free is enough if you only share links in Suno.

What changed in 2026

Before September 3, 2026, paid Suno plans let you download every song you generated. The new terms added monthly download caps, removed downloads from Free, and launched the v6 models built with licensed data from Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe. Music Business Worldwide reported that the caps and audio watermarks were part of those licensing deals. In practice, the price per generation did not change, but the price per song you keep went up sharply for heavy users. If you relied on bulk downloads, budget for extra download purchases or move to Premier and finish tracks in Studio.

Hidden costs and limits

  • Download caps are the real price ceiling, not credits.
  • Extra download prices are shown only in the app.
  • Free songs stay non commercial even after you upgrade.
  • No rollover of subscription credits.
  • Legal risk. Universal and Sony are still suing Suno in Massachusetts; see our Suno review.

How it compares

Udio costs $10 to $30 per month but has no downloads and no commercial rights on any plan. ElevenLabs Eleven Music has commercial use from $6 per month at about 900 credits a minute, so Starter's 30,000 credits buy about 33 minutes of music, and the API charges $0.15 per minute. Suno is still the cheapest way to make full songs with vocals and keep them. See Suno vs Udio and the AI Price Index.

Which plan to pick

  • Just exploring: Free.
  • Creators who need a few tracks a month: Pro.
  • Producers and heavy users: Premier, for Studio exports.
  • Release on streaming: Pro or Premier only, and download before you distribute.

How many songs can I make on Suno Pro?

Pro's 2,500 monthly credits cover about 250 generations at 10 credits each, and each generation returns 2 songs, so about 500 songs. You can download 20 of them a month.

Why can't I download my Suno songs?

Does Suno Free allow commercial use?

No. Free songs cannot be used commercially, and Suno does not grant ownership of them. Upgrading later does not convert old Free songs to commercial.

Do Suno credits roll over?

No. Subscription credits reset each billing period. Extra credits bought on paid plans are sold separately in the app.

Is Suno Premier worth it?

For producers, yes. Premier adds Suno Studio with MIDI, effects and automation, and Studio exports are unlimited, so finished tracks are not limited to the 60 download cap. Casual users are better off on Pro.
