By , research by the BestBots team · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score

A humanoid robot costs $4,900 to $20,000 in October 2026 if you count only prices makers publish. The Unitree R1 starts at $4,900, the Unitree G1 is $13,500, and the 1X NEO home robot is announced at $20,000 or $499 per month. Tesla Optimus and Figure 03 have no published price and cannot be ordered.

Every published humanoid price

Robot Price Type of price Notes
Unitree R1 AIR $4,900 Listed 20 joints, about 1 h battery, 6 month warranty
Unitree R1 $5,900 Listed 26 joints, binocular camera, 8 month warranty
Unitree G1 $13,500 Listed, excludes tax and shipping 23 DOF, about 2 h battery, 8 month warranty

1X NEO, subscription $499 per month Announced preorder Extend or return at term end
Figure 03 None Not published Not sold to consumers
Tesla Optimus None Not published About $30,000 reported from an October 2024 event

"Listed" means a price on the maker's product page. "Announced" means preorder terms for a product that has not shipped widely yet. "Reported" means a figure from press coverage, not from the company's order page.

Buy or subscribe: the NEO math

The NEO subscription and purchase cross at about 40 months: $20,000 divided by $499 is 40.1. That gives a simple rule.

How long you keep NEO Subscription total Buying
12 months $5,988 $20,000
24 months $11,976 $20,000
36 months $17,964 $20,000
48 months $23,952 $20,000

Buying includes a 3 year warranty and priority delivery. Subscribing caps your downside if first generation hardware disappoints or a better robot arrives. Both start with the same $200 refundable deposit.

What else you pay for

  • Tax, shipping and import: excluded from Unitree's listed G1 price.
  • Electricity: 1X estimates under $1 a day for NEO.
  • Maintenance: 1X recommends maintenance by its team and offers mobile service.
  • Warranty gaps: Unitree's 6 to 18 month warranties are short for robots with dozens of joints.
  • Developer access: writing your own code on Unitree robots needs the quote only EDU versions.

Why Tesla and Figure have no price

Neither company sells to consumers yet. Tesla's stated plan has been factory use first, then sales to other companies; Figure's robots go to its own R&D, data collection, housework development and customers such as BMW. Both point to volume first. Figure reported reaching 1 robot per hour in April 2026, and Tesla says it is installing lines for 1 million Optimus units a year. When either opens orders, we will add the price here.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the cheapest humanoid robot cost?

The lowest published price we found is the Unitree R1 AIR at $4,900, listed on Unitree's site. It is a small hobby and education humanoid with about 1 hour of battery.

How much does a home humanoid robot cost?

The only home chores humanoid with a published price is the 1X NEO: an announced $20,000 to own through Early Access, or $499 per month by subscription, reserved with a $200 refundable deposit.

Is it cheaper to buy or subscribe to 1X NEO?

At $499 per month, a subscriber pays $20,000 after about 40 months. Keep it longer than that and buying is cheaper on paper, with a 3 year warranty included in Early Access. Subscribing limits your exposure while the technology matures.

How much will Tesla Optimus cost?

Tesla has not published a price. About $30,000 was reported from its October 2024 We, Robot event. Until Tesla opens orders, treat any figure as a target.

What does it cost to run a humanoid robot?

1X says NEO's 0.75 kWh battery means it should cost under $1 a day in electricity at standard retail rates. Maintenance, repairs after warranty and any subscription are the bigger long term costs.

Why are humanoid robots so expensive?

A humanoid carries dozens of motors and joints (NEO lists 22 degrees of freedom per hand), batteries, multiple cameras and onboard compute, and makers are building in small volumes. Figure, for example, reported going from 1 robot a day to 1 an hour in April 2026, and said its initial factory capacity is 12,000 units a year.
