Head to head scenarios

A server with 50 self assign roles

Winner: Carl-bot. Free reaction roles with unique, verify and binding modes cover color, region, game and ping menus without paying.

A creator community that wants alerts and levels

Winner: MEE6. Ten alert sources and XP leaderboards in one dashboard. Budget for Premium if you want level role rewards.

A network of five servers

Winner: Carl-bot. $24.99 a month covers all five with movable slots. MEE6 would be five separate plans.

A mod team that needs audit trails

Winner: Carl-bot. Split logs for deletes, edits, joins, leaves, roles, bans and invites, plus full infraction history.

A first time server owner

Winner: MEE6. The dashboard is easier to learn and basic XP works without paying. Carl-bot's TagScript and log routing reward experience.

Running both, or switching

MEE6 and Carl-bot overlap on welcome messages, automod, reaction roles and custom commands, so if you run both, give each a lane. A common split is Carl-bot for reaction roles, logging, suggestions and automod, and MEE6 for leveling, social alerts, giveaways and the economy plugin. Turn off welcome messages in one of them and keep their roles below your staff.

Switching from MEE6 to Carl-bot saves money on one server ($7.99 against $11.99 a month) but costs you MEE6's XP leaderboard; add Arcane, which gives 15 role rewards free, to keep level roles without paying either bot. Switching from Carl-bot to MEE6 is easiest for leveling and alerts but check your reaction role count first: if you rely on hundreds of pairs, MEE6's limits will be the constraint.

Privacy

Both bots ask for moderation, role and message permissions. Carl-bot's invite requests a broad permission set but not Administrator, and BotLabs publishes terms, privacy, GDPR and cookie notices. MEE6 runs a public bug bounty program. Keep either bot's role below your staff roles.

Verdict

Carl-bot wins for role heavy servers, mod teams that live in logs and anyone running several servers. MEE6 wins for creators and first time owners who want XP, alerts and everything else in one easy dashboard. Ratings favor neither strongly: Carl-bot's 3.14 on top.gg is weak, and MEE6 shows no score. Frequently asked questions

Is Carl-bot better than MEE6?

For reaction roles, logging and custom commands, yes. Carl-bot gives 250 reaction role pairs free and splits logs across channels. MEE6 is better for a simpler dashboard, basic XP and leaderboards without paying, and alerts from ten social platforms.

Which is cheaper, Carl-bot or MEE6?

Carl-bot on monthly billing: $7.99 a month for one server against MEE6's $11.99 list price. MEE6's lifetime plan at $89.99 list is cheaper than about 14 months of Carl-bot, and much cheaper on its $44.99 promo.

Does Carl-bot have leveling like MEE6?

Only on Premium. Carl-bot's free vs premium table lists levels and XP as premium. MEE6's setup guide shows XP, rank cards and a leaderboard without Premium, but says role rewards only work in servers with Premium. For free role rewards, use Arcane.

Which is better for reaction roles?

Carl-bot. It allows 250 pairs per server free and 1,000 on Premium, with unique, verify, reversed, binding, temporary and timed modes. It is the reaction role bot most large servers use.

Which bot is better for several servers?

Carl-bot. One Patreon subscription covers 2 servers for $12.99, 3 for $16.99, or 5 for $24.99 a month, and you can move slots. MEE6 sells one plan per server.

Can I run MEE6 and Carl-bot together?

Yes, and it is a common pairing: Carl-bot for reaction roles and logs, MEE6 for leveling and alerts. Disable welcome messages in one of them to avoid duplicates.

Which has better custom commands?

Carl-bot for power users: TagScript lets you script commands with variables and logic, and Premium allows multiple command blocks in one tag. MEE6 is easier, with commands that give or remove roles and send messages, and up to 500 on Premium.
