The two meters, tier by tier
Launch, monthly billing
| Actions a month | Price | Data credits a month | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15,000 | $60 | 2,500 | $125 |
| 40,000 | $150 | 6,000 | $290 |
| 60,000 | $200 | 10,000 | $460 |
| 100,000 | $290 | 20,000 | $880 |
| 200,000 | $540 | 50,000 | $2,125 |
Growth, monthly billing
| Actions a month | Price | Data credits a month | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40,000 | $205 | 6,000 | $290 |
| 60,000 | $290 | 10,000 | $460 |
| 100,000 | $450 | 20,000 | $880 |
| 200,000 | $850 | 50,000 | $2,125 |
Annual billing grants all credits up front and lowers each tier; Launch's entry tier is 180,000 actions a year for $54 a month plus 30,000 data credits for $113 a month, which is the $167 total.
Data credits get cheaper per unit as you buy more: 2,500 for $125 is $0.05 each, 50,000 for $2,125 is $0.0425 each.
What each meter means in practice
- Actions are Clay doing work: running a column, calling a provider, calling an AI model, pushing to a CRM or exporting. A table of 1,000 rows with five enrichment columns uses about 5,000 actions per run. Re running a table spends actions again.
- Data credits are the data itself. A found email or phone costs a set number of credits by provider. No result, no charge.
- AI: about 80% of models cost a fixed number of data credits per task. Token heavy models, such as GPT 5.1 and Claude Sonnet, bill on actual tokens at cost, shown with a tilde estimate before the run.
- Bring your own keys: one action and zero data credits per run.
What rolls over
| Meter | Launch and Growth | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Actions | Reset each cycle | Custom |
| Data credits | Bank up to 2x the monthly amount | Up to 15% of prior year, if you renew at equal or higher commitment |
| Top ups | 30% premium | Custom price |
Hidden costs
- CRM sync requires Growth. That is a $310 a month jump from Launch's entry price.
- Top ups at 30% more. Running out mid month is expensive; size the tier instead.
- Re runs. Scheduled and repeated table runs consume actions every time.
- Variable AI models. Long Claygent prompts on frontier models can cost more than you expect; check the tilde estimate.
- Your own sender. Clay Sequencer is included, but domains and mailboxes cost extra (bought in Clay on Growth, or elsewhere).
Worked examples
| Team | Setup | Monthly | Annual cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Founder testing | Free | $0 | $0 |
| Founder, 2,500 contacts enriched a month | Launch entry, annual | $167 | $2,004 |
| SDR team, 10,000 credits and 60,000 actions | Launch, monthly | $660 | $7,920 |
| RevOps with CRM sync | Growth entry, annual | $446 | $5,352 |
| Heavy enrichment, 20,000 credits, 100,000 actions, CRM sync | Growth, monthly | $1,330 | $15,960 |
The SDR example is $200 for 60,000 actions plus $460 for 10,000 data credits. The heavy example is $450 plus $880.
How it compares
| Tool | Entry paid price | Seats | Data model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clay | $185 a month, $167 annual | Unlimited | 150+ providers, pay per result |
| Apollo | $49 a seat a month annual | Per seat | Own database, 30,000 credits a seat a year on Basic |
| ZoomInfo | Quote only; Vendr median $33,500 a year | Per license | Own database plus GTM Studio waterfall |
| Instantly credits | $47 a month | Not seat based | 450M+ database, 1,500 to 2,000 credits |
| lemlist data add on | $20 a month | Plan based | 2,000 credits (400 emails) from 25+ providers |
Clay is rarely the cheapest per contact, but with unlimited seats and waterfall coverage it is often the cheapest per usable contact. See the AI Price Index.
Verdict on price
Clay's pricing is transparent but complex: two meters, five tiers each, and rollover rules that differ by meter. Start on Free, model one month on Launch, and only move to Growth when you need CRM sync or webhooks. Size your data credit tier so you never pay the 30% top up premium. Frequently asked questions
How much does Clay cost per month?
Free is $0. Launch starts at $185 a month on monthly billing and Growth at $495, or $167 and $446 a month on annual billing. Both scale up as you add actions and data credits; for example, Launch with 50,000 data credits a month costs $2,125 for credits alone.
What is a Clay action?
An action is a unit of platform work: enriching a cell, running a table, calling an AI model, sending data to another system or exporting. Actions cost under $0.01 each and reset every billing cycle. Using your own API key for a provider costs one action and no data credits.
What is a Clay data credit?
A data credit pays for data bought through Clay's marketplace of 150+ providers, such as an email, a phone number or company data. Credits start at $0.05 each. If an enrichment returns nothing, you are not charged.
Do Clay credits roll over?
Data credits do: on Launch and Growth, unused credits can bank up to 2x your monthly amount. Enterprise can roll over up to 15% of the prior year's credits if it renews at the same or higher commitment. Actions never roll over.
Why does CRM sync cost more on Clay?
CRM auto sync and enrichment, the HTTP API, webhooks, web intent and data warehouse syncs are Growth features. Launch can export to a CRM, but not sync automatically, so most teams that run Clay into Salesforce or HubSpot end up on Growth at $495 a month.
Is Clay cheaper than ZoomInfo?
For most small and mid sized teams, yes. Clay Growth on annual billing is $5,352 a year with unlimited seats. Vendr reports a median ZoomInfo contract of $33,500 a year. ZoomInfo includes its own data set and intent; Clay pays providers per result.
