Head to head scenarios
Steep backyard, 0.75 acre, few trees
Winner: Navimow X4 (X430). The 84% slope rating and 2.8 in obstacle crossing give it the margin on hills, and front wheel steering is designed to stop the scuffing that skid steering causes on turns. With open sky, network RTK plus vision is all the navigation you need.
Heavily wooded lot, 0.5 acre
Winner: Luba 3 AWD (3000). Under dense canopy, satellite corrections weaken. The Luba 3's 360 degree LiDAR measures the yard directly and works at night, while cameras and RTK fill in. This is exactly the case Tri-Fusion was built for.
Big open lawn, 1.25 to 1.5 acres
Winner: Navimow X4 (X450). It is rated for 1.5 acres, against the Luba 3 5000's 1.25 acres, and its 17 in cut covers more ground per pass. If your lawn is right at 1.25 acres and you want to buy today, the Luba 3 5000 is the fallback.
Cool season grass kept at 3.5 to 4 in
Winner: Navimow X4. It cuts up to 4 in on every unit. The Luba 3 needs the H version to reach 4.0 in, and the standard version stops at 2.7 in.
Owner who wants the least app frustration
Winner: Navimow X4. The Navimow app rates 4.7 from 3,536 App Store ratings and the brand 4.2 on Trustpilot. Mammotion's app rates 2.9 from 348 ratings, and its Trustpilot reviews flag firmware updates and slow support.
Need it installed this month
Winner: Luba 3 AWD. It was listed on Amazon and Mammotion's store in October 2026, while both X4 versions showed Sold Out on navimow.com.
Privacy
Both mowers carry cameras and built in 4G modems, so data leaves your yard. Mammotion adds live video streaming from the mower, which is useful as a yard camera and is also the bigger privacy surface; you can leave it off. Navimow's quad layer security keeps the X4 locatable when powered off and disables security locks when your phone is nearby. Neither brand publishes camera retention terms on its product page, so read each app's privacy policy.
One 2026 rule applies to both. The FCC added foreign produced advanced robotic devices, which include robotic mowers, to its Covered List on July 28, 2026. Per Consumer Reports, already authorized models can still be sold and used and can get security updates until January 1, 2029.
Verdict
The Navimow X4 is the better mower on paper for most yards: steeper slopes, wider and taller cutting, a larger maximum lawn and a clearly better software and support record. The Luba 3 AWD wins two cases outright, heavy tree cover (LiDAR) and buying now, and it includes more cellular service in its first three years. If the X4 is in stock and your yard is mostly open, buy the X4. If you have a wooded lot or cannot wait, buy the Luba 3.
Frequently asked questions
Is Navimow better than Mammotion?
On published specs and ownership signals, the Navimow X4 edges it: steeper slope rating, a 17 in cut that reaches 4 in high, and much better app and Trustpilot ratings. The Luba 3 wins on navigation depth (it adds LiDAR), runtime and the fact that you can buy it today.
Which is better under trees, Navimow X4 or Luba 3?
The Luba 3. Its 360 degree LiDAR keeps position where satellite signal fades under canopy, alongside RTK and cameras. The X4 relies on network RTK fused with vision, which Navimow says holds position well, but LiDAR is the stronger tool for heavy shade and night mowing.
Which is better for hills?
The Navimow X4, rated for 84% slopes and 2.8 in obstacles, against 80% for the Luba 3. Both are all wheel drive. Navimow's front wheel steering is also designed to avoid tearing turf on turns, which matters most on slopes.
Which has the lower ongoing cost?
Mammotion includes 3 years of free 4G; Navimow includes network RTK and its data at no cost, but its Connect+ service is free for 1 year (X430) or 2 years (X450) and then renews annually. Over the first three years, Mammotion includes more.
Can I buy the Navimow X4 on Amazon?
We did not find the X4 on Amazon in October 2026. Amazon lists Navimow's smaller i2 and i1 models. The Luba 3 AWD is on Amazon in its 3000 version, rated 4.2 from 186 ratings.
Which cuts taller grass?
The Navimow X4 cuts 0.75 to 4 in. The standard Luba 3 stops at 2.7 in, and you need the Luba 3 H version for 2.2 to 4.0 in.
