Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Zendesk AI agents are the right AI support agent for teams already running Zendesk. They come with every Suite plan, include 5 to 10 automated resolutions per agent per month, cover 80 languages and sit next to Zendesk's ticketing, QA and workforce tools. Outside Zendesk, the $1.50 to $2.00 per resolution price is hard to justify against Fin's $0.99.

Zendesk is the pick if your team already lives in Zendesk: AI agents come with every Suite plan, cover 80 languages and sit next to mature ticketing, QA and workforce tools. The catch is the per agent seat price plus $1.50 to $2.00 per automated resolution beyond a small allowance, which makes it pricier per resolution than Fin.

What it is
Zendesk AI agents are the autonomous agents inside Zendesk's customer service platform. They answer customers across web and in-app messaging, social channels, email and voice, using your Zendesk help center and external sources such as Google Drive and PDFs. When they cannot resolve a request, they route it to the right human team with context.
They are not sold separately from Zendesk. You buy a Zendesk Support or Suite plan per agent, get a monthly allowance of automated resolutions, and buy more as you need them.
Pricing explained
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Included automated resolutions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Support Team | $25 per agent | $19 per agent | 5 per agent per month |
| Suite Team | $69 per agent | $55 per agent | 5 per agent per month |
| Suite Professional | $149 per agent | $115 per agent | 10 per agent per month |
| Suite Enterprise | Quote only | Quote only | Custom |
Beyond the allowance, extra automated resolutions cost $1.50 on a committed volume or $2.00 pay as you go. All plans cap allocated resolutions at 10,000 a year. Copilot, the AI assistant for human agents, is $50 per agent per month billed annually.
Worked example. A 10 agent team on Suite Team, billed monthly, with 600 AI resolutions a month: seats are $690. Included resolutions are 50. The other 550 at $2.00 cost $1,100. Total $1,790 a month, or $1,515 at the committed rate. The same 600 resolutions on Fin standalone cost $594, and on Intercom Essential with 10 seats about $984. The full side by side is in Intercom Fin vs Zendesk AI.
One discrepancy to clear up. The pricing page lists 5 and 10 included resolutions per agent. Zendesk's help center table lists 5 for Team, 10 for Growth and 15 for Professional and Enterprise. Ask your rep which applies and get it on the order form.
What counts as a resolution
Zendesk bills only for customer requests the AI resolves without escalation to a human. The clock depends on the channel:
- Email: the conversation ends 72 hours after the first email
- Messaging: 2 hours after the first message by default, adjustable up to 72 hours
- Voice: at hangup
This is stricter, in the buyer's favor, than Intercom's assumed resolution rule. If a customer comes back within the window and reaches a human, you are not billed for an AI resolution. Lengthening the messaging window to 72 hours gives you the most protection.
Features
Channels. Web and in-app messaging, social, email and voice, all in the same Suite.
Languages. 80 languages, switching automatically based on the customer's input, according to Zendesk.
Knowledge sources. The Zendesk help center plus external sources such as Google Drive and PDFs.
Handoff. Routes to human teams with full context, inside the same Zendesk workspace your agents already use.
Platform depth. This is Zendesk's real advantage. Its comparison page claims 1,800+ marketplace apps and native QA and workforce management. For a contact center that needs routing, SLAs, QA scoring and staffing in one tool, that matters more than the per resolution rate.
Reviews. Zendesk for Customer Service rates 4.3 on G2 from 7,102 reviews. That rating covers the whole platform, not only the AI agents.
Setup
Zendesk says customers can automate requests from day one with no training or complex setup, by drawing on their existing help center and policies. That is credible for teams with a mature help center already in Zendesk. Teams without one should expect to write articles first; the AI can only resolve what your content covers.
The 14 day trial gives you Suite Professional features with Copilot included, which is enough to measure your real automated resolution rate before you commit.
Who it is for
- Teams already on Zendesk. No migration, one vendor, one contract.
- Mid size and enterprise support orgs that need QA, workforce management and routing next to AI.
- Multilingual support across 80 languages.
- Voice plus digital in one suite.
Who should skip it
- Teams not on Zendesk. Moving helpdesks to get Zendesk's AI makes little sense when Fin standalone costs $0.99 per outcome on your current tool.
- High AI volume on a budget. At $2.00 pay as you go, 5,000 extra resolutions cost $10,000 a month. HubSpot lists $0.50 and Fin $0.99.
- Small teams. Seats at $69 to $149 per agent plus usage is heavy for a three person shop. See the best AI chatbots for small business.
Questions to ask Zendesk before you sign
- Exactly how many automated resolutions per agent per month are included on your plan, given the gap between the pricing page and the help center?
- What committed volume gets the $1.50 rate, and what happens to unused committed resolutions?
- Can the messaging window be set to 72 hours on your plan, and what is the default on your account?
- Are voice resolutions billed at the same rate as messaging and email?
- How are resolutions counted when a customer reopens a ticket after the window closes?
Getting these answers in writing matters more on Zendesk than on Fin, because the seat price, the allowance and the overage rate all move the final bill. A team that commits to the wrong volume can pay more per resolution than the pay as you go rate implies.
Pros and cons
Pros
- AI agents included on every Suite plan with a monthly allowance
- 80 languages across messaging, email, social and voice
- Strict resolution rule: escalations inside the window are not billed
- Mature ticketing, QA and workforce add-ons
Cons
- $2.00 pay as you go is about twice Fin's rate
- Seat fees of $25 to $149 per agent before AI usage
- Included resolution counts differ between the pricing page and help center
- Copilot is a separate $50 per agent add-on
Verdict
Zendesk AI agents are a strong choice for the teams Zendesk already serves: established support orgs that value one platform and need voice, QA and 80 languages. The resolution rule is buyer friendly and the included allowance helps large teams with light AI use. On pure price per resolution, it trails Intercom Fin and HubSpot, so teams not already on Zendesk should start with Intercom Fin. Compare every option in the best AI chatbots for business.
