iRobot's new flagship replaces the Combo 10 Max. What the specs say, what changed at iRobot, and who should still buy a Roomba.

Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
The iRobot Roomba Max 875 Combo is the first Roomba with flagship numbers: 35,000 Pa suction, a carpet sealing skirt, a 140°F heated roller mop, 300+ object recognition and a 90 day AutoWash dock. It replaces the Roomba Combo 10 Max at the top of iRobot's lineup. The caveat is iRobot itself, which went through Chapter 11 in late 2025.

The Max 875 is the first Roomba that matches Chinese flagships on paper: 35,000 Pa, 300+ obstacle types, LiDAR and a 176°F roller wash. The risk is the company: iRobot filed for Chapter 11 in December 2025 to be taken over by its manufacturer, Picea, and the 875 has almost no owner reviews yet.

What it is
The Roomba Max 875 Combo is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum and mop, announced on September 2, 2026 and billed by iRobot as its most powerful robot ever. It sits above the Roomba Max 775 Combo and the Plus 678, 575, 515 and 415 Combos. The previous flagship, the Roomba Combo 10 Max with its AutoWash dock, is now listed by iRobot as available at select retailers only.
The 875 is a big change from the Combo 10 Max. The Combo 10 Max lifted a flat pad onto its back on carpet and relied on camera navigation. The 875 uses a roller mop, dual line LiDAR plus AI camera recognition, and a new SealForce system in which the chassis lowers a skirt that seals against carpet fibers to concentrate suction. iRobot claims that makes carpet cleaning three times deeper than vacuuming without it.
Specs from iRobot's release and product page:
- 35,000 Pa suction with 20 L/s airflow
- PowerSpin Max roller mop, 300 RPM, 18 N downward pressure
- ThermaMist ultrasonic heated spray and 140°F hot water mopping
- AI powered DriLift lifts the mop when carpet is detected
- AutoWash dock: 176°F roller wash, 131°F heated air drying, up to 90 days of debris in a carbon AllergenLock bag, auto dosing of StayClean mopping concentrate
- ClearView Pro dual line LiDAR and PrecisionVision AI recognizing 300+ common objects
- 3.5 cm threshold climbing, 3.93 inch robot height, 5,000 mAh NCM battery
iRobot's corporate situation
Facts, from iRobot's own releases and the public record:
- January 2024. Amazon and iRobot ended their planned merger after opposition from EU and US antitrust regulators. Amazon paid iRobot a $94 million breakup fee and iRobot cut 31% of its workforce.
- December 14, 2025. iRobot filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a restructuring support agreement to be taken private and acquired by Shenzhen Picea Robotics, which manufactures Roombas, and Santrum Hong Kong.
- 2026. iRobot kept launching products: a new generation of Roombas on July 7, 2026, the Max 875 Combo on September 2, and the Roomba Duo at IFA on September 4.
What that means for you: the brand is operating and shipping new hardware, and the robot runs on the Roomba Home app. The risk is long term support under new ownership, such as parts, app updates and warranty service years from now. We found no announcement of app shutdowns. If a five to seven year ownership horizon matters, weigh this alongside the specs.
Pricing explained
The Max 875 is sold on Amazon, on iRobot.com and, per iRobot, across North American retail from late September 2026. We do not list robot prices; check the current price before you buy.
Ownership costs:
- Carbon AllergenLock bags. Up to 90 days each, so about four a year.
- StayClean mopping concentrate. The dock mixes it automatically, so it is an ongoing purchase if you use auto dosing.
- Roller mop, brushes, filters. Standard wear parts.
Key features
SealForce vacuuming
A skirt lowers from the chassis and seals against carpet so airflow pulls through the pile rather than around the robot. It is a different idea from simply raising suction numbers, and it is aimed at homes with a lot of carpet.
Heated roller mopping
ThermaMist sprays a 140°F ultrasonic mist to soften dried spills, then the PowerSpin Max roller scrubs at 300 RPM with 18 N of pressure and 140°F water. iRobot calls it the industry's biggest roller. DriLift raises it on carpet, and PerfectEdge extends the mop along walls.
AutoWash dock
176°F roller washing, 131°F heated air drying, up to 90 days of debris and automatic mixing of mopping concentrate with clean water. Among the flagships here, only the Narwal Flow 2 (120 days) and the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete (100 days) hold more.
Navigation and obstacles
ClearView Pro dual line LiDAR builds 3D maps, up to three floors, and mapping takes under 10 minutes, per iRobot. PrecisionVision AI recognizes and avoids 300+ common objects, which ties Roborock's Saros 20.
App and voice
The Roomba Home app handles schedules, room targeting and personalized cleaning plans. Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant are supported.
What users say
The Max 875 is new. Its Amazon listing showed only six ratings in October 2026, too few for us to report a score. The entry Roomba 105 Combo, by contrast, shows 4.4 out of 5 from 49,386 Amazon ratings and 4.17 from 105 reviews on iRobot.com, which tells you the brand's mainstream robots are well liked. Check back as reviews build on the 875.
Privacy and security
The 875 carries a camera for PrecisionVision. iRobot's product page says it uses high standards of data encryption to keep data private and secure. Given the change in ownership, read the current privacy policy in the Roomba Home app before you connect the robot, and turn off any features you do not need.
Who it is for
- Carpet heavy homes that will benefit from SealForce
- Existing Roomba owners who like the app and want to upgrade
- Pet homes with rugs who want a heated roller mop that lifts on carpet
Who should skip it
- Buyers who want the safest long term support bet; Roborock and Dreame have no comparable corporate uncertainty in our sources
- People who want many owner reviews before buying
- Low furniture homes: at 3.93 inches it is taller than the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete (3.13 in) and Roborock Saros models (3.14 in)
Alternatives
- Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow: mid range roller mop with 200+ objects; see Qrevo Curv 2 Flow vs Roomba Max 875
- Roborock Saros 20: 36,000 Pa and 300+ objects
- Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete: thinner, 100 day bag
- iRobot Roomba 105 Combo: iRobot's budget LiDAR combo
Verdict
On specs alone, the Roomba Max 875 Combo is a real flagship and its SealForce skirt is a genuine point of difference for carpet. It is a fine buy for carpet heavy homes that already trust Roomba. If you want the most proven ownership path today, a Roborock or Dreame flagship carries less company risk for similar specs.
