The short answer

  • Buy the Roomba Max 875 if you have a lot of carpet, already use the Roomba app, and want the longest dock interval and the most object types of these two.
  • Buy the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow if your floors are mostly hard, you want a robot with a large base of owner ratings, and you would rather avoid the uncertainty of iRobot's 2025 bankruptcy.

These two replace the models most people still search for: iRobot's Combo 10 Max is now at select retailers only, and the original Qrevo Curv has left Roborock's collection.

Pricing

Both are sold on Amazon and their brands' stores. We do not list robot prices because they change often; check the current price on each listing. What differs is the cost of running them:

  • Bags. The Roomba's carbon AllergenLock bag lasts up to 90 days; Roborock's lasts about 65. Over a year that is about four bags versus five to six.
  • Solution. The Roomba dock auto mixes StayClean concentrate. The Roborock dock works with Roborock solution.
  • Rollers and brushes. Both use rollers that wear and need replacing.

Models and features

Suction and carpet. The Roomba's 35,000 Pa and SealForce skirt are designed for carpet. Roborock's 20,000 Pa is fine for hard floors and low pile rugs.

Mopping. Both use rollers that are washed during or between passes. The Roomba heats its mist and water to 140°F on the robot. The Roborock does not heat on the robot but has 2.5 times the mopping pressure of the original Qrevo Curv and rinses the roller in real time.

Obstacles. 300+ object types on the Roomba versus 200+ on the Roborock. Both handle cords, shoes and pet waste.

Clearance. The Roomba is 0.77 inches lower, which matters under sofas.

Specific head to head scenarios

Mostly carpet with pets

Winner: Roomba Max 875. SealForce and 35,000 Pa are built for carpet, and the 90 day bag handles shedding.

Mostly hard floors, mopped daily

Winner: Qrevo Curv 2 Flow. Real time roller rinsing and a 15 mm lift do the job, and its owner rating base is large.

Low furniture

Winner: Roomba Max 875. 3.93 inches versus 4.7 inches. If you need lower still, look at the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete at 3.13 inches.

Long term ownership and support

Winner: Qrevo Curv 2 Flow. iRobot went through Chapter 11 in December 2025 and changed owners. Roborock has no comparable event in our sources.

Smart home on Matter

Winner: Qrevo Curv 2 Flow, narrowly. Roborock promises Matter by update for this model; iRobot does not list Matter for the 875 in our sources.

Dried on kitchen spills

Winner: Roomba Max 875. Heated 140°F mist softens dried messes before the roller scrubs.

Privacy

Both robots use cameras for obstacle recognition. iRobot says it uses high standards of data encryption. Roborock says it follows global data privacy standards and publishes a vulnerability disclosure policy. Given iRobot's change in ownership, read the current privacy policy in the Roomba Home app before setup.

Verdict

The scenarios split three and three: the Roomba Max 875 wins on carpet, clearance and dried spills, and it is the better robot for carpet. The Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is the safer buy, with a proven rating base and no ownership question. If you want Roborock with flagship specs that beat the Roomba, step up to the Saros 20. Frequently asked questions

Is Roomba or Roborock better?

On current flagship specs, the Roomba Max 875 beats the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow on suction, obstacle count, dock capacity and height. Roborock wins on owner ratings, roller lift height and company stability. Roborock's own flagship, the Saros 20, beats the Roomba Max 875 on suction and climbing.

Is iRobot still a safe brand to buy?

iRobot filed for Chapter 11 on December 14, 2025 with an agreement to be acquired by its manufacturer, Shenzhen Picea Robotics, and Santrum Hong Kong. It kept launching robots through 2026. The open question is long term support under new ownership.

What replaced the Roomba Combo 10 Max and Qrevo Curv?

iRobot's Combo 10 Max is now listed at select retailers only, and the Roomba Max 875 Combo is iRobot's flagship. The original Qrevo Curv is no longer in Roborock's robot vacuum collection; the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow carries the line forward with a roller mop.

Which is better for carpet, Roomba or Roborock?

The Roomba Max 875, on paper. It has 35,000 Pa and a SealForce skirt that seals against carpet. The Qrevo Curv 2 Flow has 20,000 Pa but lifts its roller higher, 15 mm, to keep rugs dry.

Which has the better app?

Both apps cover maps, rooms, schedules and voice assistants. Roborock adds SmartPlan 3.0, video calls and support for up to four floors; iRobot supports up to three maps. Neither offers Matter on these two models today; Roborock promises it by update.

Roomba vs Shark vs Roborock: which should I buy?

For specs, Roborock's Saros 20. For carpet and an existing Roomba household, the Roomba Max 875. For invisible stains, Shark's PowerDetect UV Reveal with UV Stain Detect. See our best robot vacuums guide for the full ranking.
