The Salesforce license underneath
Agentforce is not sold on its own. The Sales Cloud pricing page says AI can be added to Core and above, and Service Cloud lists Agentforce for Service as a purchase on Core and Advanced.
| Edition | Price per user per month | Agentforce |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Suite | $25, billed monthly or annually | Not available as an add on (Service lists the Casey help agent as a purchase) |
| Pro Suite | $100, billed annually | Not available as an add on (same) |
| Core | $195, billed annually | Add on available |
| Advanced | $395, billed annually | Add on available, adds the Casey help agent, Premier Success and full sandbox on Service |
| Max | $550, billed annually | Agentforce included with 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year |
Salesforce lists Casey and access to outcome based pricing for Service Cloud but publishes no per outcome rate, so we cannot price it.
How the three pricing models compare
Flex Credits bill by work done. Every action an agent takes, such as a record lookup, an update or a Flow run, burns 20 credits. A conversation that takes four actions costs $0.40.
Conversations bill a flat $2 per conversation no matter how many actions it takes. That is simpler to budget but only cheaper when a conversation needs more than 20 actions ($2 divided by $0.10). Very few support chats do.
Per user add ons at $125 per user per month suit internal agents used by a known number of reps, such as sales coaching or service rep assistance, where usage per person is high and predictable.
Two rules shape the decision. Flex Credits and Conversations cannot run in the same org, so you switch all conversation SKUs to move to credits. And Conversations, add ons and editions are not sold on PayGo or Pre Commit, only Flex Credits are.
Worked examples
All examples use list prices from Salesforce's pricing pages in October 2026. Action counts per conversation are assumptions for illustration; your agent design sets the real number. Negotiated discounts are common in Salesforce contracts but not published.
1. Mid size ecommerce support, 5,000 chats a month, 4 actions each. 20,000 actions at $0.10 is $2,000 a month in Flex Credits. On Conversations pricing the same volume is 5,000 at $2, or $10,000 a month. Add the Service Cloud licenses your human agents already hold.
2. Contact center voice agent, 2,000 calls a month, 6 voice actions each. 12,000 voice actions at $0.15 is $1,800 a month. The same calls on Conversations pricing would be $4,000.
3. 20 person sales team on Core with the Sales add on. Core licenses are 20 at $195, or $3,900 a month billed annually. The add on is 20 at $125, or $2,500. Total $6,400 a month, $76,800 a year.
4. 20 users on Max Edition instead. 20 at $550 is $11,000 a month, $132,000 a year, with 2.75 million Flex Credits included. Those credits are worth $13,750 at list price, or 137,500 actions a year (about 11,460 a month). Compare Advanced plus the add on: $395 plus $125 is $520 per user, so Max costs $30 more per user per month, $7,200 a year for 20 users, and returns $13,750 in credits plus Tableau Next and Slack Enterprise+.
5. Employee help agent for 500 staff, 30 requests each a month, 1 action each. User licenses are 500 at $5, or $2,500. Usage is 15,000 actions at $0.10, or $1,500. Total $4,000 a month, before any Salesforce licenses those employees need.
Hidden costs
- Salesforce licenses. The biggest line item. Agentforce add ons need Core at $195 per user per month billed annually or above.
- Data 360 consumption. Salesforce customers can provision Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) free with limited storage and credits. Processing unstructured documents, unifying profiles, segmenting and querying draw from Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000. Ingestion is free. The per action rate card sits behind a calculator, so model it with your account team.
- Expiring credits. Unused Flex Credits do not roll over into the next term. Pre purchase too many and you lose them.
- Voice premium. Voice actions cost 50% more than text actions.
- Implementation. Building agents on Flows, Apex and Agent Script usually needs a Salesforce admin, developer or partner. Salesforce does not publish setup fees, so budget for internal time or a consultant.
- Annual contracts. Every Sales and Service edition above Starter is billed annually.
How it compares to rival pricing
| Platform | Usage price | Platform fee |
|---|---|---|
| Agentforce | $0.10 per action, or $2 per conversation | Salesforce Core from $195 per user per month billed annually |
| Microsoft Copilot Studio | $0.01 per credit pay as you go, or $200 per month for 25,000 credits billed annually | None to build; Microsoft 365 Copilot $30 per user per month for zero rated employee use |
| Intercom Fin | $0.99 per outcome | Intercom seats from $39 per month, or standalone with a 50 outcome minimum |
| Zendesk AI agents | $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay as you go per automated resolution | Zendesk plans from $25 per agent per month |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | $0.50 per resolved conversation | Service Hub Professional $100 per seat per month |
Per task, Agentforce Flex Credits are cheap: a four action conversation at $0.40 undercuts Fin, Zendesk and HubSpot's per resolution rates. The difference is the license floor. If you are not already paying for Salesforce, the platform fee dominates the bill. See unit prices across every category in the AI Price Index, the full Agentforce review and Copilot Studio pricing.
Which model to pick
- Customer facing support agents: Flex Credits, unless your conversations regularly exceed 20 actions.
- Internal agents for a fixed team of reps: per user add ons at $125.
- Large org standardizing on Agentforce across sales and service: price Max Edition against Advanced plus add ons; the included 2.75 million credits often cover the difference.
- Pilot or unpredictable volume: Flex Credits on PayGo, billed monthly in arrears with no commitment.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Agentforce cost per month?
It depends on the model. A support agent handling 5,000 conversations a month at four actions each costs about $2,000 in Flex Credits, or $10,000 on $2 per conversation pricing. Salesforce licenses are extra: Core is $195 per user per month billed annually.
What is a Flex Credit?
A Flex Credit is Salesforce's usage unit for Agentforce and Data 360. Credits cost $500 per 100,000, or half a cent each. A standard Agentforce action uses 20 credits and a voice action 30.
Should I choose Flex Credits or $2 per conversation?
Flex Credits, unless your conversations routinely run more than 20 actions. At $0.10 per action, a conversation costs less than $2 until it passes 20 actions. Conversations pricing is simpler to forecast, but it only covers customer facing agents.
What happened to Agentforce 1 Editions?
Salesforce's pricing pages now list Max Edition from $550 per user per month billed annually, with the Agentforce add on and 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year. The Agentforce pricing FAQ still uses the name Agentforce 1 Editions for this bundle.
Is Agentforce free?
Building is. Salesforce Foundations is $0 and includes Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder and Agent Script. Running agents in production costs Flex Credits, conversations or per user add ons.
Do I need Data Cloud for Agentforce?
You can provision Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) free with limited storage and credits. Heavier use, such as processing unstructured documents for agent answers, draws from the same Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000.
Is there an overage charge?
No penalty. Salesforce bills usage above your entitlement at your contracted rate, monthly in arrears. Unused Flex Credits do not roll over into the next subscription term.
Can I buy Agentforce pay as you go?
Flex Credits, yes, through PayGo or Pre Commit with monthly billing in arrears. Conversations pricing, add ons and editions are not available on those models.
