Agentforce is the best AI agent platform for companies that already run on Salesforce. Agents work directly on CRM records, Flows and Apex, and usage is cheap per task at $0.10 per action. The catch is the entry ticket: you need a Salesforce license from $195 per user per month billed annually, plus credits, conversations or $125 per user add ons.

By Salesforce

Agentforce is the strongest agent platform for companies whose customer data already lives in Salesforce: agents read and update CRM records natively, run on Flows and Apex, and ship to chat, voice and Slack. The tradeoff is cost and complexity, since usage bills at $0.10 per action or $2 per conversation on top of Salesforce licenses that run $195 to $550 per user per month billed annually.

What it is

Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for building and running AI agents. An agent is a set of instructions, topics and actions: it reads a customer's question or an employee's request, uses Salesforce's Atlas Reasoning Engine to break the job into steps, and then calls actions such as looking up an order, updating a case, booking a meeting or running a Flow. Salesforce says more than 18,000 companies run on Agentforce, naming OpenTable, SharkNinja, Indeed, Heathrow and Equinox.

The product announced as Agentforce 360 in October 2025 spans the whole Salesforce stack. Agentforce for Service handles customer support, Agentforce for Sales covers lead qualification and coaching, Agentforce Coworker and the employee agents work inside Slack, and Agentforce Voice replaces phone menus. Everything is grounded in your Salesforce data and Data 360 (the product formerly called Data Cloud).

That is the key point for buyers. Agentforce is not a standalone agent builder like n8n or Lindy. It is an add on to Salesforce, sold by Salesforce account executives, and priced on top of Salesforce licenses.

Pricing explained

Salesforce publishes three pricing models on its Agentforce pricing page, plus editions that bundle them.

Option Price What it means
Salesforce Foundations $0 Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder, Agent Script, Agentforce Coworker and Agentforce Vibes for building
Flex Credits $500 per 100,000 credits 20 credits ($0.10) per Agentforce action, 30 credits ($0.15) per Agentforce Voice action
Conversations $2 per conversation Flat price per conversation, customer facing agents only
Agentforce User License $5 per user per month Employee access to agents, requires Flex Credits
Agentforce add ons (Sales, Service, Field Service) $125 per user per month Per user Agentforce for that cloud
Agentforce Industries add ons $150 per user per month Same, for industry clouds
Max Edition From $550 per user per month billed annually Agentforce add on, unmetered Coworker, 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year

The license underneath is the part most reviews leave out. Sales Cloud and Service Cloud now list Starter Suite at $25, Pro Suite at $100, Core at $195, Advanced at $395 and Max at $550 per user per month, with every tier above Starter billed annually. The Sales Cloud page states that AI can be added to Core and above. So the realistic floor for a five person team is $975 a month in Core licenses before a single agent runs.

Flex Credits are the model Salesforce steers buyers toward. One action costs 20 credits, or $0.10. If a service conversation needs four actions (identify the customer, look up the order, check the return policy, create the return), it costs $0.40, against $2 on Conversations pricing. Flex Credits only lose to Conversations once a conversation needs more than 20 actions. You cannot mix the two in one org, and unused credits do not roll over between subscription terms.

Overage is friendly: there is no penalty, you pay your contracted rate monthly in arrears. Flex Credits come pre purchased, pay as you go or pre commit, but conversation pricing, add ons and editions are not available on pay as you go. Key features

Agentforce Builder and Agent Script

Agentforce Builder is the conversational studio where you describe an agent in plain English, refine it on a canvas, and test it. Agent Script is Salesforce's own scripting layer underneath: it mixes natural language instructions with programmatic conditions, loops and transitions, so you can force deterministic steps (verify identity before discussing an account) while leaving the rest to the model. You can toggle from the visual view to the script with syntax highlighting and validation.

Actions from Flows, Apex and MuleSoft

Agents act through what your Salesforce org already has. Builder connects to Flows, Apex classes, prompt templates and MuleSoft APIs. For a mature Salesforce shop this is the biggest advantage over any outside tool: years of automation become agent actions without a new integration layer.

Atlas Reasoning Engine and multi agent orchestration

Atlas breaks a request into smaller tasks, evaluates each step and chooses the next action. Salesforce lists multi agent orchestration to coordinate specialist agents and a Long Horizon Runtime for workflows that run across days or weeks, such as a lead nurture or a claims process.

Model choice

Salesforce lists Anthropic models through Amazon Bedrock, Google's Gemini models and OpenAI models inside the Salesforce experience. Specific model names by agent type are in Salesforce's developer docs, which block automated fetching, so we list providers only.

Agentforce Voice

A native voice layer for contact centers with low latency transcription and speech synthesis. Voice actions cost 30 Flex Credits, or $0.15 each, 50% more than text actions.

Channels and Slack

Agents deploy to web chat, phone, mobile apps, portals and Slack. Slack is positioned as the interface where employees work alongside agents, and Max Edition bundles Slack Enterprise+.

Testing and observability

Builder generates reusable test cases from real interactions and runs batch tests, and Agentforce Observability and Agent Optimizer track performance after launch. Few standalone builders ship testing this complete.

Data 360 grounding

Agents can read unstructured documents and unified customer profiles from Data 360. Salesforce customers can provision Data 360 free with limited storage and credits; heavier use such as processing unstructured documents draws from the same $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits pool.

What users say

Agent specific ratings were hard to open. G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Gartner Peer Insights all blocked our page fetches in October 2026, so we do not quote their scores. Two listings we could open:

  • Salesforce mobile app, App Store: 4.8 from 354,114 ratings. This is the app reps use to reach Salesforce and its agents on mobile, not a rating of Agentforce alone.
  • Salesforce on Trustpilot: 1.3 from 660 reviews, 85% of them one star. Recurring complaints are about billing and auto renewal, slow support handoffs between account contacts, cancellation difficulty and a dated, complex interface. A minority praise dashboards and customization.

Read that gap correctly. Daily users of the product rate it well; the people who write to Trustpilot are mostly unhappy with Salesforce as a vendor and its contracts. Both matter when you sign a multi year Agentforce deal.

Privacy and security

Every prompt passes through the Einstein Trust Layer. According to Salesforce, prompts and responses are never stored or used to train the third party models, personal and proprietary data is replaced with tokens before the prompt leaves Salesforce, and generated content is scanned for toxicity, with an audit trail of what went in and out.

Salesforce's compliance portal lists ISO 42001:2023 (the AI management standard), an HDS certificate and a SOC 1 bridge letter for the Agentforce and Einstein platform. Salesforce services on Hyperforce list ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, HITRUST, PCI DSS and the EU Cloud Code of Conduct. For regulated buyers this is one of the most complete compliance sets in the category, alongside Microsoft and ServiceNow.

There is no self hosted option. Agents run in Salesforce's cloud.

Who it is for

  • Companies already on Sales Cloud or Service Cloud Core, Advanced or Max, with reasonably clean CRM data.
  • Service teams that want agents to resolve cases end to end, not just answer FAQs.
  • Contact centers ready to replace phone menus with voice agents tied to customer records.
  • Enterprises that need ISO 42001 and HITRUST scale compliance and one vendor for CRM, data and AI.

Who should skip it

  • Small businesses not on Salesforce. A Core license is $195 per user per month billed annually before agents. HubSpot's Customer Agent at $0.50 per resolution or Intercom Fin at $0.99 per outcome cost far less to start.
  • Microsoft 365 and Teams companies building employee agents. Copilot Studio prices credits from $0.01 each and zero rates employee use for Microsoft 365 Copilot users. See Copilot Studio vs Agentforce.
  • IT service desks on ServiceNow. See Agentforce vs ServiceNow AI Agents.
  • Developers who want code first agents across any stack. n8n is free to self host and bills per workflow run.
  • Teams on Starter or Pro Suite. Agentforce add ons start at Core, so you would need a license upgrade first.

Verdict

Agentforce is the most capable agent platform for Salesforce customers. Native access to CRM records, Flows and Apex, a real testing and observability stack, three published pricing models and a deep compliance portfolio put it in the top tier of enterprise agent platforms. At $0.10 per action, Flex Credits are also cheaper per task than most per resolution pricing in customer service.

Where it falls short is the total bill and the learning curve. You pay for Salesforce licenses first, Data 360 grounding draws on the same credits, unused credits expire, and getting the most out of Agent Script and Flows takes a Salesforce admin or partner. If you are not already a Salesforce customer, buying Salesforce to get Agentforce rarely makes sense.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Agents read and update Salesforce records and run existing Flows and Apex without middleware
  • Three published pricing models, including $2 per conversation and $0.10 per action
  • Model choice across Anthropic, Google Gemini and OpenAI behind the Einstein Trust Layer, which does not let third party models store or train on prompts
  • ISO 42001 for the Agentforce and Einstein platform, plus ISO 27001, HITRUST and PCI DSS on Hyperforce

Cons

  • Agent usage sits on top of Salesforce licenses that cost $195 to $550 per user per month billed annually
  • Data 360 work for grounding agents draws from the same Flex Credits, and the per action rate card is behind a calculator
  • Unused Flex Credits do not roll over to the next term
  • Salesforce scores 1.3 on Trustpilot from 660 reviews, mostly billing, renewal and support complaints

Frequently asked questions

What is Salesforce Agentforce?

Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for building AI agents that work inside its CRM. Agents answer customers, qualify leads, update records and run existing Flows and Apex across chat, voice, Slack and apps. Salesforce says more than 18,000 companies run on it.

How much does Agentforce cost?

Usage costs $0.10 per standard action and $0.15 per voice action through Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000 credits), or $2 per conversation for customer facing agents. Per user add ons are $125 per user per month for Sales, Service and Field Service. All of this sits on top of a Salesforce license, Core at $195 per user per month billed annually or higher.

Is Agentforce worth it?

For a company with clean data in Sales Cloud or Service Cloud, usually yes: agents act on CRM records natively and Flex Credit pricing at $0.10 per action is cheap per task. For a company not on Salesforce, no. The license floor alone makes it one of the most expensive ways to deploy an AI agent.

Can I use Agentforce for free?

Partly. Salesforce Foundations is $0 and includes Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder and Agent Script, so you can build. Running agents in production consumes Flex Credits or conversations, which are paid.

Which AI models does Agentforce use?

Salesforce lists Anthropic models through Amazon Bedrock, Google Gemini models and OpenAI models, with the Atlas Reasoning Engine planning the steps. Prompts pass through the Einstein Trust Layer, which masks sensitive data and keeps third party models from storing or training on it.

Is Agentforce secure?

Salesforce's compliance portal lists ISO 42001 for the Agentforce and Einstein platform, and ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, 27701, HITRUST and PCI DSS for Salesforce services on Hyperforce. The Trust Layer adds data masking, toxicity detection and audit trails.

Agentforce vs Microsoft Copilot Studio: which is better?

Pick Agentforce if your customer data and service desk run on Salesforce. Pick Copilot Studio if your company runs on Microsoft 365 and Teams; its credits start at $0.01 each pay as you go and employee agents are zero rated for Microsoft 365 Copilot users.

Do unused Flex Credits roll over?

No. Salesforce's pricing FAQ says unused Flex Credits do not roll over into later subscription terms. If you go over your entitlement you pay your contracted rate monthly in arrears, with no penalty.
