Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
ServiceNow AI Agents is the right agent platform in October 2026 for enterprises whose IT and HR service already runs on ServiceNow: agents act directly on incidents, requests, the CMDB and knowledge, with AI Control Tower governance included. The cost is opacity. There is no price list, custom agents need the top Prime tier, and every action draws down a pooled assist budget.

ServiceNow AI Agents is the natural pick for enterprises whose IT and HR workflows already run on ServiceNow, since agents act on incidents, CMDB and catalog data with governance built in. The tradeoff is cost opacity: there is no public price list, custom agents need the top Prime tier, and every action draws from a pooled assist budget.

What it is
ServiceNow AI Agents are agents that live inside the ServiceNow platform, the system many large companies use for IT service management (ITSM), HR service delivery and customer service. Instead of connecting an outside agent to ServiceNow through an API, these agents work on the platform's own records and workflows.
The product has four parts:
- AI Agent Studio for configuring agents: role, goals, tools and guardrails in a low code interface.
- AI Agent Orchestrator for coordinating several agents on one piece of work.
- AI Control Tower for governing every AI asset across the company.
- Now Assist, ServiceNow's generative AI, plus the conversational layer from Moveworks, which ServiceNow now bundles into its tiers.
The big 2026 change is commercial. On April 9, 2026 ServiceNow replaced its five legacy packages (Standard, Pro, Pro Plus, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus) with three AI native tiers. AI is no longer an add on you buy separately; it ships in every tier with a metered allowance.
Pricing explained
ServiceNow does not publish prices. Every deal is sized by its sales team, and ServiceNow's own site could not be opened for this review. The structure below comes from partner and community guides published after the April announcement; treat numbers as reported, not list prices.
| Tier | What it adds | Reported assists per ITSM fulfiller seat per year |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | Out of the box skills and agents for summarization, pattern recognition, categorization and task help; Virtual Agent; Now Assist Foundation; Moveworks; Predictive Intelligence | 1,500 |
| Advanced | Agentic workflows, AI Voice Agents, Now Assist Advanced, Moveworks Advanced, Process Mining, change and problem management | 3,000 |
| Prime | Custom skill and agent creation in AI Agent Studio, AI Agents for ITSM, L1 Service Desk AI Specialist, AI Agent for DEX, Now Assist Prime | 6,000 |
All three tiers include AI Control Tower, Workflow Data Fabric and Data Fabric credits. Legacy SKUs reached end of sale on July 1, 2026, and partners report that legacy pricing cannot be reinstated after that date.
How assists are consumed
Partner guides list these consumption rates:
| Action | Assists |
|---|---|
| Incident summary | 1 |
| Small agent workflow, under 4 tool calls | 25 |
| Medium agent workflow, 5 to 8 tool calls | 50 |
| Large agent workflow, 9 to 20 tool calls | 150 |
The pool sits at tenant level, not per user, so a busy team can drain everyone's allowance.
Worked examples
- 200 fulfiller seats on Advanced: 200 x 3,000 = 600,000 assists a year, about 50,000 a month. At 50 assists per medium workflow, that covers about 1,000 agent resolved tickets a month, or about 50,000 one assist summaries.
- Same tenant, large workflows: at 150 assists each, 50,000 a month covers about 333 large workflows. Heavy agent use drains the pool about 6 times faster than small workflows.
- Prime for custom agents: doubling the pool to 6,000 per seat doubles headroom, but you are paying the top tier per seat for every fulfiller, not only the ones who build agents.
Hidden costs
- Top ups once the pool is exhausted.
- Sub production instances. Community guidance flags testing and cloned instances as a major consumption source.
- Virtual Agent fallback to Now Assist and Agent Workspace summaries run constantly and add up.
- Data quality. Poor CMDB and knowledge data make agents retry and loop, using more assists per task.
- Implementation partners, which most enterprises use for ServiceNow rollouts.

Key features
AI Agent Studio
A low code workspace where you define an agent's role, goals, tools and guardrails. On Foundation and Advanced you configure ServiceNow's out of the box agents; creating net new custom skills and agents requires Prime.
AI Agent Orchestrator
Coordinates multiple agents so a single request, such as onboarding a new hire, can move between an HR agent, an IT provisioning agent and a facilities agent with shared context.
Prebuilt agents
Prime includes AI Agents for ITSM, an L1 Service Desk AI Specialist that handles first line tickets, and an AI Agent for digital employee experience. Advanced includes AI Voice Agents for phone based service.
AI Control Tower
The governance layer: an inventory of every AI asset and agent, quota settings by team, risk and compliance tracking, and a kill switch for agents that misbehave. Subscription Management shows consumption by skill and instance.
Now Assist and Moveworks
Now Assist drafts content and summarizes incidents, cases and chats. Moveworks, now part of the tiers, adds an employee facing conversational assistant across chat tools.
Workflow Data Fabric
An integration layer with zero copy connectors so agents can use data from other systems without copying it into ServiceNow.
What users say
We could not open a G2, Gartner Peer Insights or Capterra listing for ServiceNow AI Agents in this review, so no rating is shown. Partner and community commentary since April is consistent:
- Praise: agents that act on real ITSM records, governance built in, and AI no longer sold as a separate negotiation.
- Complaints: no public pricing, confusion about tier limits right after the change, assist consumption that is hard to predict, and setup that often needs outside consultants.
One partner summarized the April announcement bluntly: the pricing model was not clear and ServiceNow had not stated the actual limits per tier. Ask for the assist entitlement and top up rate in writing.
Privacy and security
- Platform: agents run inside your ServiceNow instance under existing roles and access controls, so they see what the configured user or agent identity can see.
- Governance: AI Control Tower tracks AI assets, risk and compliance and can stop any agent.
- Models: ServiceNow does not publish a per tier model list on the pages we could open. Ask which models process your data, where, and whether any third party provider retains it.
- Training: get the contractual terms on whether your instance data is used to improve ServiceNow models before rollout.
Who it is for
- Enterprises running ITSM, HR service delivery or customer service on ServiceNow.
- IT service desks that want first line ticket resolution by an agent with access to the CMDB and knowledge base.
- Organizations that need central AI governance and are already paying for ServiceNow at scale.
Who should skip it
- Companies not on ServiceNow. The value is the platform data; buying ServiceNow for agents alone is rarely sensible.
- Teams that need published, self serve prices. n8n, Zapier or Copilot Studio list prices.
- CRM led use cases. Sales and customer agents on Salesforce data belong in Agentforce. See Agentforce vs ServiceNow AI Agents.
- Organizations with messy CMDB data that are not ready to clean it.
Alternatives
- Agentforce: Salesforce's agents, $0.10 per action or $2 per conversation.
- Microsoft Copilot Studio: low code agents across Microsoft 365, credits from $0.01.
- Gemini Enterprise: Google's employee assistant and agents over 100+ connectors, including ServiceNow.
- watsonx Orchestrate: IBM's agent platform with prebuilt HR and procurement agents, from $530 a month.
- Amazon Bedrock AgentCore: developer infrastructure for custom agents on AWS.

Verdict
ServiceNow AI Agents is a strong platform held back by how it is sold. If your service desk already runs on ServiceNow, nothing else acts on incidents, the CMDB and catalog data as natively, and bundling Now Assist, Moveworks and AI Control Tower into every tier removed a painful add on negotiation. But there is no price list, the assist pools behave like a metered cloud service that heavy agent workflows drain fast, and real custom agents need Prime. Get the assist entitlement, top up rate and model terms in writing, and clean your CMDB first.

What are ServiceNow AI Agents?
ServiceNow AI Agents are autonomous agents built into the ServiceNow platform that reason, plan and complete work such as resolving incidents, fulfilling requests and answering employee questions. They are configured in AI Agent Studio, coordinated by AI Agent Orchestrator and governed in AI Control Tower.
How much do ServiceNow AI Agents cost?
ServiceNow publishes no prices. AI is now sold inside three tiers, Foundation, Advanced and Prime, priced per fulfiller seat by sales. Each tier includes an annual pool of assists, reported at 1,500, 3,000 and 6,000 per ITSM fulfiller seat, with top ups when you run out.
What is an assist in ServiceNow?
An assist is the unit ServiceNow uses to meter AI. A light action such as an incident summary uses about 1 assist; agentic workflows use 25 (under 4 tool calls), 50 (5 to 8) or 150 (9 to 20) according to published partner guides. Pools are allocated at tenant level, not per user.
Which ServiceNow tier do I need for AI agents?
Foundation includes out of the box skills and agents for summarizing and categorizing. Advanced adds agentic workflows and AI Voice Agents. Prime is required to create net new custom skills and agents in AI Agent Studio and includes AI Agents for ITSM and the L1 Service Desk AI Specialist.
What happened to Now Assist Pro Plus?
ServiceNow retired the Standard, Pro, Pro Plus, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus packages on April 9, 2026, and legacy SKUs reached end of sale on July 1, 2026. Now Assist is now bundled into Foundation, Advanced and Prime.
What is ServiceNow AI Control Tower?
AI Control Tower is ServiceNow's governance hub for AI. Admins see every AI asset and agent, set consumption quotas per team, monitor risk and compliance, and use a kill switch to stop a misbehaving agent. It is included in every tier.
Is ServiceNow AI Agents worth it?
For enterprises whose IT or HR service runs on ServiceNow with clean CMDB and knowledge data, yes, since agents act on the records natively and governance is built in. If your data is messy, agents retry and loop, consuming more assists, so fix the data first.
