Jobber AI Receptionist is the best value AI receptionist for home service shops that already run on Jobber. It answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits into your real Jobber schedule and escalates emergencies, for $29 a month with 30 conversations included and $0.79 per extra one. The catch: it only works inside Jobber, and Jobber does not publish caller languages.

By Jobber

If you already run your shop on Jobber, this is the cheapest way to get an AI receptionist that writes jobs into your real schedule and escalates words like no heat or burst pipe: $29 a month for 30 conversations, then $0.79 each. It only works with Jobber, it needs a Jobber phone number, and caller languages are not published.

What it is

Jobber is field service management software for lawn care, cleaning, plumbing, HVAC and similar trades. Receptionist, powered by Jobber AI, is its built in answering agent. Instead of being a separate service that you wire up to a CRM, it reads the data already in your Jobber account (company profile, services, request forms, online booking settings and, if you have a Jobber website, its FAQs) and acts on your schedule and client list directly.

Jobber's feature page says it is ready on day one from your existing Jobber data, with no scripting or setup calls. Its FAQ cites receptionists handling over 20 calls per week on average without intervention. You can call Jobber's public demo line to hear it before you buy, though demo bookings do not create real visits and live transfer is disabled in the demo.

Pricing explained

Option Price What you get
AI Receptionist add on $29 per month 30 conversations per billing cycle, then $0.79 per conversation
Jobber Plus plan From $399 per month billed annually ($499 monthly), 5 users Receptionist included with unlimited usage, plus Marketing Suite and Pipeline
Required base plan Core $29 per month billed annually ($49 monthly), 1 user Online booking, quotes, invoices, payments

Prices are from Jobber's pricing page and its help center article, as listed in October 2026. Jobber's headline prices are first year promotions: a new customer offer through October 30, 2026 cuts annual Core to $21 a month and Grow to $105 for the first 12 months, then they renew at list ($29 and $149). Monthly no commitment plans are higher still, and Jobber also sells a monthly plan with a 12 month commitment.

How conversations are counted. Each answered call is one conversation. A text thread stays open for 24 hours and counts once in that window. Calls Jobber tags as spam or no conversation are free. Admins get email alerts at 23 and 30 conversations and an in app banner at 10 remaining.

At the limit you choose. Continue at $0.79 per conversation, or pause the receptionist. Paused, it still takes messages (not counted) but cannot book or take actions until the next cycle.

Worked examples

  • Solo lawn care operator, 25 conversations a month: $29 add on plus Core at $29 annual list = $58 a month.
  • Plumbing shop on Grow (1 user), 80 conversations a month: $29 + 50 x $0.79 ($39.50) = $68.50 for the receptionist, plus Grow at $149 annual list = $217.50 a month.
  • Five person HVAC crew, 200 conversations a month: on Grow with 5 users ($229 annual list) the receptionist costs $29 + 170 x $0.79 = $163.30, so $392.30 total. Plus for 5 users is $399 annual list with unlimited receptionist use, so at this volume Plus is roughly the same money and adds Marketing Suite ($99 add on) and Pipeline ($49 add on).

Against standalone receptionists, $0.79 per conversation is cheap. Smith.ai's AI plans charge $2.10 to $3.00 per extra call, Goodcall bills $0.79 per unique caller on Starter, and Rosie starts at $49 a month. See the AI Price Index and what an AI receptionist costs.

Key features

Booking into your real schedule

Receptionist books visits using your Online Booking settings and actual availability, so it cannot double book a crew you have already scheduled. New leads land in your client list. It can also look up a caller's upcoming appointments, reschedule them (Online Booking must be on) and cancel them, which turns the visit into an unscheduled job with a cancellation note.

Requests, tasks and messages

When a job cannot be booked outright, such as a quote visit that needs a site walk, it collects details and submits your chosen request form. It can create follow up tasks for team members, due the same day, or the next day if the call came after hours, and add notes to a client record.

Emergency escalation

You set trigger words and phrases such as "emergency", "no heat", "burst pipe" or a commercial account name. When the receptionist hears them it transfers the call to you or sends a text alert. Callers who ask for you by name can be routed the same way. Escalation numbers must differ from your business number and the Jobber number.

Known caller recognition

It greets existing clients by name, matched by phone number, and can mention their upcoming appointment. That is a small detail standalone receptionists usually need a CRM sync to match.

Texts and missed call text back

It answers inbound texts, and it texts callers who hang up before talking. You can watch text conversations live, take over at any time, turn it off per conversation or allow only trusted numbers when texting is off.

Recordings, transcripts and summaries

Every call and text is logged with a summary, full transcript and recording, plus the caller's number and property address for matched clients. Jobber's help article advises telling callers they are speaking to AI and that calls may be recorded, and checking your state's recording rules.

Concurrency

It handles multiple calls and texts at once, each logged separately. Jobber does not publish a maximum.

Setup

Setup is the easiest in the category if you are already on Jobber, because the receptionist reuses your existing settings.

  1. Get a Jobber dedicated phone number (available in the US, Canada and the UK).
  2. Forward your existing business line to it, after hours or after a set number of rings. Most carriers use a dial code; the help center has a step by step Google Voice setup, including turning off call screening so the caller's real number passes through.
  3. Turn on the optional 10 second answering delay (about two rings) if your carrier does not already add one.
  4. Customize the greeting (text greetings max out at 300 characters) and service descriptions, set trigger words and escalation numbers, and choose which actions it may take. When an action is turned off, it asks before acting.
  5. Toggle availability separately for calls and texts from the web app or mobile app.

What users say

Jobber itself rates 4.2 on Trustpilot from 233 reviews, 71% five star and 18% one star, with Jobber replying to 93% of negative reviews. Praise centers on knowledgeable support staff, ease of use for scheduling and invoicing, and frequent updates. Complaints cover slow support on billing issues, limited reporting, rising prices and clunky third party integrations. Those reviews are about Jobber overall, not the receptionist specifically; we found no rating site with a separate count for the add on.

Jobber's feature page also cites a 4.5 rating from 4,883 Google Play reviews for its app.

Privacy and security

The receptionist stores call recordings, transcripts, summaries, caller numbers and matched property addresses in your Jobber dashboard, and only admin users can access its dashboard and settings. The help article does not describe retention periods, storage location or third party data sharing, and Jobber's AI pages do not mention model training opt outs. Jobber also reviews greeting changes and may block ones that misrepresent your business or could put callers at risk. If you serve regulated clients, ask Jobber for its data processing terms before turning on recording.

Who it is for

  • Lawn care, cleaning, plumbing, HVAC, pest and other home service shops already on Jobber.
  • Owner operators who miss calls on jobs and want after hours booking for less than $60 a month all in.
  • Teams on Jobber Plus, where usage is unlimited.
  • Shops that want emergency calls to reach the on call tech, not a voicemail box.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone not on Jobber. Housecall Pro users should look at Housecall Pro CSR AI; everyone else needs a standalone receptionist.
  • Businesses that need bilingual answering confirmed in writing. Jobber does not publish languages.
  • Shops outside the US, Canada and the UK, where Jobber phone numbers are not offered.
  • Firms that want a live human to pick up when the AI cannot help. Consider Smith.ai or Posh, which mix AI and live receptionists.

Alternatives

Verdict

For a Jobber shop, this is an easy yes. $29 a month for 30 conversations, $0.79 after that, and bookings that land straight in your schedule beat paying a standalone receptionist $2 or more per call and then syncing it. Watch volume on non Plus plans, confirm languages if you need Spanish, and remember the Jobber plan price comes first. If you do not run Jobber, it is not an option.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Jobber AI Receptionist cost?

The add on is $29 a month and includes 30 conversations per billing cycle, per Jobber's help center. Each extra conversation is $0.79, billed on your next renewal invoice. You also need a Jobber plan, from $29 a month billed annually for Core at list price, and the Plus plan includes the receptionist with unlimited usage.

What counts as a conversation in Jobber Receptionist?

Each answered call is a conversation, and a text thread counts as one conversation for 24 hours. Calls tagged as spam or no conversation do not count, according to the help center. Jobber emails admins at 23 conversations (75%) and 30 (100%).

What happens when I hit the 30 conversation limit?

You choose: keep going and pay $0.79 per conversation, or pause the receptionist. When paused it still takes messages, which do not count, but it cannot book jobs or take other actions until the next billing cycle.

Can Jobber AI Receptionist book appointments?

Yes. It books visits using your Online Booking settings and real availability, and it can look up, reschedule and cancel existing appointments. Rescheduling requires Online Booking to be on. If a job cannot be booked outright it creates a work request or a follow up task.

Can I keep my business phone number?

Yes. Jobber requires a dedicated phone number (US, Canada or UK), but you forward your existing number to it after hours or after a set number of rings. The help center includes a Google Voice setup and an optional 10 second answering delay.

Does Jobber AI Receptionist speak Spanish?

Jobber does not publish supported caller languages on its feature page or help article. If you need bilingual answering, confirm it with Jobber in writing or pick a receptionist that lists Spanish, such as Smith.ai or Rosie.

Does Jobber AI Receptionist work without Jobber?

No. It is a Jobber add on that reads your Jobber company profile, services, request forms and booking settings, and writes into your Jobber schedule. Shops on Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan or no field service software need a standalone receptionist.

Is Jobber AI Receptionist worth it?

For a Jobber shop that misses calls, yes: $29 covers 30 conversations, and a single booked job usually pays for it. It is weaker if you get heavy call volume on a non Plus plan, need live human backup, or need published language support.
