Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
RingCentral AI Receptionist (AIR) is the strongest AI receptionist from a major phone company: six languages with mid call switching, booking in Google and Outlook, and native Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho links, from $49 a month. The tradeoff is the meter. Only 100 minutes are included and every extra minute costs $0.50, so busy lines get expensive fast.

The strongest pick from a big phone company: six languages with mid call switching, Google and Outlook booking, and Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho links. At $0.50 per minute past 100 minutes it gets expensive fast for busy lines.

What it is
AIR is RingCentral's AI agent for inbound calls. It answers 24/7, handles many calls at once, answers questions from your website, FAQs or uploaded documents, routes callers by name, department, location or keyword, captures leads with intake questions, and books or reschedules appointments. After a call it can send an SMS follow up, and every call gets a recording and a transcript.
RingCentral is one of the largest cloud phone companies. AIR is sold two ways: standalone for any business, whatever phone system it runs, or as an add on to RingEX, RingCentral's own business phone plan. It targets healthcare, legal and real estate in particular, and its case studies come from urgent care, mental health, radiology, logistics and a pro sports team.
There is no staffed backup team. When a caller needs a person, AIR transfers to your staff with a summary of the call.
Pricing explained
As listed on the RingCentral AI Receptionist pricing page in October 2026:
| Version | Price | Minutes included | Extra minutes | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone | From $49 per month | 100 | $0.50 per minute | 14 days |
| RingEX add on | From $39 per month | 100 | $0.50 per minute | 14 days |
Three details change the real bill:
- 30 second rounding. Call time is rounded up and billed in 30 second increments. A 1 minute 5 second call bills as 1.5 minutes.
- Minute bundles. RingCentral sells extra minute bundles but does not list their prices. If you expect to run over every month, ask for a bundle quote; it may beat $0.50 per minute.
- RingEX cost is separate. The $39 add on price assumes you already pay for RingEX seats. RingEX plan prices did not display on the plans page we opened, so get a quote if you are switching phone systems at the same time.
Monthly cost at common volumes, standalone, using the published rate:
| Minutes a month | Standalone | RingEX add on | About how many 3 minute calls |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | $49 | $39 | 33 |
| 200 | $99 | $89 | 66 |
| 300 | $149 | $139 | 100 |
| 500 | $249 | $239 | 166 |
| 1,000 | $499 | $489 | 333 |
Older third party reviews still quote a $59 add on price; the current page shows $39. For more scenarios and how AIR compares per call with Nextiva and Quo, see RingCentral AI Receptionist pricing or run your numbers in the calculator.
Key features
Six languages with mid call switching
AIR speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Portuguese, and can switch when a caller changes language partway through. Among the big phone company receptionists, that is the widest published list. Quo Sona speaks three and cannot switch mid call; Nextiva does not publish a list.
Appointment booking and rescheduling
AIR books, reschedules and confirms appointments in Google Calendar and Outlook during the call. For offices on Microsoft 365, the Outlook support matters: many cheaper AI receptionists book only into Google Calendar or Calendly.
Native CRM integrations
Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho are native, so caller details and call summaries can land on the right record without Zapier. That is a real advantage over Nextiva XBert, where Salesforce and HubSpot are on request.
Routing and lead capture
You define routes by person, department, location or keyword, and set custom intake questions. AIR supports multi location and multi department setups, useful for clinics and firms with several offices.
Works with any phone system
AIR connects to cloud, on premises and hybrid phone systems by call forwarding or SIP. You do not have to switch to RingEX, though RingEX customers save $10 a month.
Recording, transcripts and analytics
Every call is recorded and transcribed, with analytics and conversation insights. RingCentral's case studies cite results such as 60% of member calls resolved by AI at Iron Workers International and 1,000 additional appointments a month at Televero Health; those are company reported.
Setup
RingCentral says no IT support is needed. You enter your website, the auto create setup pre fills the configuration, and you add FAQs or upload documents. It says most businesses are live in minutes. The 14 day trial is the time to test routing rules, the transfer experience and each language you need.
What users say
AIR has no product level review listing with 10+ reviews we could open (G2 blocked our request). Company level ratings:
| Site | Rating | Reviews | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trustpilot | 1.7 | 2,013 | 64% one star, 19% five star |
| App Store (RingCentral app) | 4.8 | 78,019 | Main phone and messaging app |
The split tells a story. App users rate the phone app highly. Trustpilot reviewers, who are usually account holders with a problem, report hard to reach support, a difficult cancellation process, billing that continued after a cancellation request, and auto renewals they did not expect. Some praise the smooth initial setup and reliable calling.
Practical takeaway: read the contract term before you sign, confirm in writing whether you are on month to month billing, and save any cancellation confirmation.
Privacy and security
RingCentral's product page states that customer data is not used to train its AI models, and says it is transparent about how data is collected and used. It shows a HITRUST certification and describes AIR as designed for HIPAA, with encryption and audit logging. That is the clearest AI data use statement among the phone company receptionists we compared; Nextiva and Quo do not address model training on their pages. Healthcare users should still request a business associate agreement.
Who it is for
- Existing RingCentral customers, who pay $39 instead of $49
- Businesses with Spanish, French, Italian, German or Portuguese speaking callers
- Offices on Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendars
- Teams that want native Salesforce, HubSpot or Zoho sync
- Healthcare, legal and real estate offices that want a clear statement on AI training
- Lines with short calls and under about 300 minutes a month
Who should skip it
- Busy lines with long calls. At 1,000 minutes AIR costs $499. Rosie lists 1,000 minutes for $149.
- Businesses that also need texts and chat answered by AI. Nextiva XBert covers calls, texts and chat on one meter.
- Anyone wary of contract and billing disputes. RingCentral's Trustpilot record is the weakest in this group.
- Owners who want a person on every call. See Smith.ai or AnswerConnect.
- Trades booking into ServiceTitan. See Avoca or Sameday AI.

Verdict
AIR has the best feature set of any AI receptionist sold by a big phone company: six languages that switch mid call, Outlook and Google booking, native Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho, and a plain statement that your data does not train its models. It is priced for light use. Past 100 minutes the $0.50 rate adds up quickly, so it works best for offices with short, routine calls or for RingEX customers adding AI to lines they already have. Check the contract terms carefully given the company's support and billing reviews. Full rankings: best AI receptionists.
