Goodcall Review 2026: Pricing, Features and Verdict
The AI receptionist that bills per unique caller instead of per minute or per call, which is cheap for repeat callers and long calls, and English only for now.
By , research by the BestBots team ยท Updated Oct 19, 2026
Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Goodcall is the cheapest AI receptionist for businesses where the same customers call again and again, or where calls run long, because it bills per unique caller per month and never counts minutes. Growth covers 500 callers for $129. The drawbacks are English only answering, a short integration list and a small, all negative review record.

The best fit for businesses with long calls or repeat callers, because a customer who calls five times in a month counts once and minutes are never metered. The weak spots are English only answering, a short native integration list and a thin, negative public review record.

What it is
Goodcall is an AI phone agent for local and small businesses. It answers every call 24/7, answers questions about your business, captures and qualifies leads, books appointments into your calendar, looks up inventory in connected systems, transfers callers to your team and sends you each lead by text or email. Every call is recorded and transcribed.
The company began inside Google in 2017. A Google Ads team noticed local businesses paid for leads they then missed on the phone, built CallJoy at a hackathon, incubated it in Google's Area 120 and spun it out. Investors listed on its about page include Neo, Foothill Ventures, Merus Capital, Xoogler Ventures and Zillow co founder Spencer Rascoff.
The newest version centers on Gabi, an AI that builds the receptionist for you. You describe your business by typing or talking, Gabi drafts the agent, runs practice calls you can listen to, and keeps learning from real calls and your notes. Changes need your approval before callers hear them.
Pricing explained
Goodcall's unit is the unique caller, which it calls a customer: one phone number, once a month. Prices as listed on its pricing page in October 2026.
| Plan | Price per month | Unique callers | Goodcall's call estimate | Extra caller | Workers | External tools | Team members | Call history |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $79 | 100 | about 150 calls | $0.79 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 30 days |
| Growth | $129 | 500 | about 750 calls | $0.26 | 10 | 5 | 5 | 90 days |
| Scale | $299 | 2,000 | about 3,000 calls | $0.15 | 20 | 15 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Custom | 2,000+ | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
What is free on every plan: minutes, repeat calls from the same number in the same month, spam, wrong numbers and one local phone number. No annual price is listed.
What the limits mean. Workers are the separate agents or roles you can run, such as a main line and an after hours line. External tools are connections to outside systems: HighLevel, Google Sheets, an API or an MCP server. Team members are logins. Call history is how long recordings and transcripts stay visible, and Starter's 30 days is short if you audit calls monthly.
Worked examples:
- 150 calls from 100 people: Starter, $79. About $0.53 per call.
- 200 unique callers: Starter would be $79 plus 100 at $0.79, or $158, so Growth at $129 is cheaper.
- 1,000 unique callers: Growth plus 500 extra at $0.26, $259. Scale at $299 only wins above about 1,150 callers.
Per caller billing makes Goodcall hard to compare with per call tools, so run your own numbers in the calculator and see the full math on Goodcall pricing.
Key features
Unique caller billing
This is the reason to pick Goodcall. A plumbing customer who calls three times about one job, a client who checks status weekly or a caller who needs nine minutes to describe a problem all cost one unit. Per minute tools such as Rosie and per call tools such as Smith.ai charge for every one of those.
Gabi agent builder
Gabi builds your agent from a plain description and runs practice calls automatically. Goodcall's example shows test scenarios such as a leaking water heater quote, a price question, an after hours call and a request to reach the owner, each marked pass or fail. You can listen before going live, which is the closest thing to a trial run on real scripts.
Booking and lead capture
The agent checks your calendar availability, books the appointment, texts a confirmation, and captures caller details and answers to your qualifying questions. Leads go to you by text and email. Returning customers can be recognized and updated in HighLevel.
Transfers
When a caller asks for a person or needs one, Goodcall tries up to three people in order, gives a busy line another try, and takes a message if nobody picks up. There is no staffed human backup service.
Inventory and external tools
Goodcall can check stock in connected store systems and call anything with an API or MCP server. That is unusual at this price, and useful for parts counters, retail and rental businesses.
Recording and analytics
Every call is recorded and transcribed, with call metrics in the dashboard. History length depends on plan.
Voices and numbers
Three voice personalities are offered. You can forward your current number, including from major carriers and Google Voice, or take a new local number in your chosen area code.
What users say
Goodcall's public review record is thin. Its Trustpilot profile was unclaimed with 5 reviews, all 1 star, when we checked in October 2026, which is below our 10 review threshold for a score. G2 and Capterra blocked access to their listings, so we could not verify ratings there.
The Trustpilot complaints share themes:
- Billing after cancellation. Several reviewers say charges continued after they cancelled; one says they had to replace a credit card to stop them.
- Unannounced price increases. One account describes its monthly bill moving from $59 to $99 to $130.
- Unanswered support. Reviewers say billing disputes went unanswered.
- Dropped calls and plan balance used up without completed calls.
Five reviews is too few to judge a company with a Google origin and years in market, and the profile has never invited reviews. Still, every complaint is about billing, so cancel in writing, keep the confirmation and check your card statement the next month.
Privacy and security
Goodcall says it is SOC 2 and HIPAA compliant on its homepage. It does not publish the SOC 2 report or a business associate agreement process on the pages we opened, so health businesses should request both. Its responsible AI commitments include telling callers they are speaking with AI, human review of calls alongside automated checks, strict control over what the agent says, and handing off tasks it should not attempt. All calls are recorded, so check your state's call recording consent rules. Ask in writing whether your call data trains Goodcall's models and how long recordings are kept beyond the visible call history.
Who it is for
- Service businesses with repeat callers: job status checks, rescheduling, follow up questions
- Businesses with long calls, where per minute tools get expensive
- Agencies and owners on HighLevel
- Retail, parts and rental counters that need inventory lookups
- Busy shops with 300 to 1,000 unique callers a month, where Growth is very cheap
Who should skip it
- Spanish or other language callers. Goodcall answers in English only. Rosie and Dialzara include Spanish; Upfirst lists 35+ languages.
- Law firms and offices that need a human fallback. Use Smith.ai or Ruby.
- Teams on Clio, ServiceTitan, Salesforce or HubSpot who want native sync without Zapier.
- Buyers who weigh review records heavily. The public record is small and negative.
- Very low volume. Under 40 or so callers a month, Upfirst at $24.95 or Smith.ai's free plan costs less.
Alternatives
- Rosie: per minute, $49 for 250 minutes, English and Spanish. See Goodcall vs Rosie.

- Upfirst: per call, 300 calls for $159.95, 35+ languages.
- Smith.ai: per call with live receptionist backup and Clio, HubSpot and Salesforce. See Smith.ai vs Goodcall.

Verdict
Goodcall has the most forgiving billing model in AI reception. No minutes, no charge for repeat callers or spam, and $129 for 500 callers, which beats every per call and per minute plan we compared at that volume. Gabi's practice calls make setup quick. Hold it back for three reasons: English only, a short native integration list, and a public review record made up entirely of billing complaints. If your callers speak English and call often, it is the best value pick. Document your cancellation if you leave. Full rankings: best AI receptionists.

One phone number, once a month. Goodcall's example: if the same person calls back five times in March, that is one customer. Spam and wrong numbers do not count, and minutes are never metered.
Does Goodcall charge per minute?
No. Goodcall bills only by unique callers per month, so a 10 minute call costs the same as a 20 second one.
Does Goodcall speak Spanish?
Not yet. Its How it works page lists the language as English, today. If you need Spanish, look at Rosie, Smith.ai or Dialzara.
Is Goodcall legit?
Goodcall started inside Google in 2017 as CallJoy, was incubated in Google's Area 120 and is backed by investors including Neo and Foothill Ventures. Its small Trustpilot page is entirely negative, mostly about charges after cancellation, so keep written proof of any cancellation.
