Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Posh is the best value hybrid answering service: AI and live US receptionists share one pool of minutes, starting at $65 a month pay as you go, with AI minutes billed at about half the live rate. Law firms get native Clio and Rocket Matter links. The catch: at $0.95 to $1.15 per AI minute it costs several times what pure AI receptionists charge.

Posh is the cheapest way to get live receptionists and AI on one bill, with published rates, month to month terms and native Clio and Rocket Matter links that law firms want. Minutes still cost $0.95 to $1.15 for AI and $1.90 to $2.30 for live, so it is a hybrid answering service, not a budget AI receptionist.

What it is
Posh Virtual Receptionists is a US based live answering company that added AI receptionist plans. Unlike AI first tools such as Rosie or Goodcall, Posh sells people first and uses AI to absorb routine calls. The AI answers 24/7, routes calls by keyword, caller details or time of day, qualifies leads against your criteria, looks up FAQ answers, captures intake details, sends follow up texts or emails, and hands callers to a live receptionist when they ask (default triggers include asking to talk to a human), passing along everything it collected.
Live receptionists can enter data directly into your CRM, make outbound calls through the Task Assistant feature, and are available 24/7.

What a minute means. Posh bills time on the call plus immediate follow up work: scheduling, reminders and message delivery. Task Assistant outbound calls count too. Posh does not publish a minimum per call. That is standard for live answering services, but it means your bill is higher than your raw talk time.
Shared pool, split overage. Inside your plan, AI and live minutes are not priced differently. Once you go over, AI minutes and live minutes bill at their own rates, and a call the AI answers and transfers to a person incurs both.
What is included. All integrations, bilingual receptionists, Task Assistant and unlimited users on every plan, month to month with no setup fee listed. Posh's FAQ says accounts are usually set up in 24 to 48 hours.
Worked examples
- Solo attorney, 20 minutes a month, mostly AI: On Demand at $65 + 15 AI minutes x $1.15 + 5 live minutes x $2.30 = $93.75.
- Small firm, 100 minutes: Elegant AI at $215 flat, regardless of the AI to live split.
- Busy office, 260 minutes on Luxurious AI: $420 + 60 overage minutes. If all AI, $420 + $63 = $483; if all live, $420 + $126 = $546.
Against rivals: Ruby charges $395 for 100 live minutes, Abby Connect $329 for 100 minutes, and Smith.ai's AI plans are priced per call from $150 for 75 calls. Pure AI receptionists like Rosie start at $49 a month. See the AI Price Index and AI receptionist vs answering service.
Key features
AI and live receptionists on one bill
The core idea. AI answers routine calls, live staff handle intake and complex calls, and both draw down the same minutes. Posh recommends live receptionists for complex issues and AI plus live for repetitive questions and extended hours.
Smart routing and handoff
AI routing by keyword, caller details or time of day, with a data rich transfer that passes collected information to the live receptionist so the caller does not repeat themselves.
Lead qualification and intake
The AI qualifies callers using your criteria and captures leads using your intake procedures, which matters for law firms screening practice areas.
Appointment scheduling
Receptionists book into Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, Google Calendar, Setmore and HubSpot, and AI plans send instant confirmation texts or emails after calls.
Legal and CRM integrations
Clio Grow, Clio Manage, Rocket Matter, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and Zapier, all included. Clio and Rocket Matter links are the reason many law firms shortlist Posh.
Transcripts in the Posh app
Every AI conversation is transcribed and reviewable in the Posh app. The AI greeting announces a recorded line.
Bilingual answering
English and Spanish live receptionists at no extra cost.
Setup
Sign up for the trial (7 days or 250 minutes, no card), then Posh runs an onboarding conversation to set transfer triggers, call handling and availability. Forward your business line, connect your calendar or practice management software, and adjust scripts with the support team. Reviewers single out onboarding staff and quick script changes.
What users say
Posh rates 4.7 on Trustpilot from 199 reviews, 84% five star and 3% one star, though only 15 reviews came in the last 12 months. Praise focuses on professional, polite receptionists, smooth onboarding, responsive support for call flow changes and callers not realizing they reached an outside service. Complaints are fewer but specific: one long term customer described quality declining over two to three years with spelling errors and poor screening, and another found it more expensive than expected because more calls were transferred than they planned. Most reviews describe the live service; few mention the AI plans yet.
Privacy and security
The AI announces itself and the recorded line, which helps with two party consent states. Conversations are transcribed and stored in the Posh app. Posh's AI and pricing pages do not describe AI data use, retention or model training, or list SOC 2 or HIPAA certification, so medical practices should ask for a BAA and law firms should ask how transcripts are stored before routing confidential intake through it.
Who it is for
- Law firms on Clio or Rocket Matter that want intake by people and overflow by AI.
- Small offices that want live receptionists without a contract.
- Low or unpredictable volume businesses that fit the $65 On Demand plan.
- Offices that need bilingual English and Spanish coverage.
Who should skip it
- Budget buyers who only need AI: Rosie, Goodcall or My AI Front Desk cost a fraction per minute.
- High volume call centers, where per minute live billing adds up fast.
- Medical practices that need documented HIPAA terms before signing.
- Field service shops on Jobber, where the Jobber AI Receptionist books straight into the schedule for $29.
Alternatives
- Smith.ai review: AI and live receptionists billed per call, free AI plan for 25 calls.
- Ruby review: premium live receptionists from $250 for 50 minutes.
- Abby Connect review: live plus AI minutes that count double.
- AnswerConnect review: 24/7/365 live answering, quote only.
- Rosie review: AI only, flat price from $49.
- More in best AI answering services, AI receptionist for law firms and best AI receptionists.
Verdict
Posh is the answering service to pick if you want real people on intake calls and AI for the rest, at prices well below Ruby, with month to month terms and Clio built in. Budget for task time on top of talk time, and know that the AI minutes, while half the live rate, still cost several times a pure AI receptionist. If you never need a human on the line, buy an AI tool instead.

How much does Posh cost?
Posh's On Demand plan is $65 a month with no included minutes: $1.15 per AI minute and $2.30 per live minute. Bundles run from Vogue AI at $130 for 50 minutes to Exclusive AI at $1,900 for 1,000 minutes, per its AI pricing page effective June 1, 2026. Live only plans use the same prices.
Does Posh have an AI receptionist?
Yes. Posh's AI plans add an AI receptionist that answers, routes by keyword, caller or time of day, qualifies leads, answers FAQs and hands off to a live US receptionist with the details it collected. The AI announces itself, for example as your AI receptionist on a recorded line.
How does Posh count minutes?
Posh bills receptionist minutes: time on the call plus immediate follow up tasks such as scheduling an appointment, sending a reminder or delivering a message. AI and live minutes inside your plan draw from one pool. Overage is calculated separately, and an AI call that transfers to a person incurs both rates.
Is there a Posh free trial?
Yes. Posh's pricing page lists a free trial of 7 days or 250 receptionist minutes, whichever comes first, with no credit card required.
Does Posh integrate with Clio?
Yes. Posh lists Clio Grow and Clio Manage, Rocket Matter, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, Google Calendar, Setmore and Zapier on its integrations page, included on all plans.
Does Posh offer bilingual receptionists?
Yes. Posh's FAQ says bilingual receptionists speak English and Spanish, included at no extra cost. Its AI page does not list AI languages, so confirm Spanish AI answering during onboarding.
Is Posh cheaper than Ruby?
Yes, at the same live volume. Posh's 100 minute plan is $215 a month versus $395 for Ruby's 100 minute Standard plan, as both pricing pages list. Posh also lets AI handle part of the load at about half its live rate.
Does Posh require a contract?
No. Posh plans are month to month with no long term contract, billed on a true monthly cycle rather than 28 days, and its FAQ says there are no setup or hidden fees.
