Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Nextiva XBert costs $99 a month for 100 interactions in October 2026, then $0.99 per extra interaction. An interaction is a call of 30 seconds or more, or a text or chat with 3 or more AI replies, so short calls are free and long calls cost the same as quick ones. There is no contract and a 30 day money back guarantee.

What an interaction means in practice
Nextiva defines the unit this way:
- Calls: count when they last 30 seconds or more.
- Texts and chats: count when the AI sends 3 or more responses.
Three consequences:
- Spam and hang ups are mostly free. Robocalls and wrong numbers usually end inside 30 seconds.
- Long calls are cheap. A 7 minute booking call is one interaction, $0.99 at overage.
- Quick text answers are free. A customer who texts "are you open Saturday?" and gets one reply does not count.
The flip side: a business with very short calls that still pass 30 seconds, say 45 second hours and directions calls, pays $0.99 for each, where a per minute tool would charge less.
Worked examples
Monthly bill at five volumes, using the published $99 base and $0.99 overage:
| Interactions a month | Example business | Monthly bill | Per interaction |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | Solo consultant, after hours only | $99 | $2.48 |
| 100 | Small salon, calls plus texts | $99 | $0.99 |
| 180 | Two truck plumbing shop | $178.20 | $0.99 |
| 300 | Dental office overflow | $297 | $0.99 |
| 600 | Busy multi line office | $594 | $0.99 |
Example in detail: a home service shop gets 150 calls a month, 20 of them under 30 seconds, plus 40 text threads, half of which go past 2 AI replies. Counted interactions: 130 calls plus 20 texts, 150 in total. Bill: $99 plus 50 at $0.99, $148.50.

Hidden costs and fine print
- No volume discount is published. Interaction 1,000 costs the same $0.99 as interaction 101.
- On request integrations take 2 to 4 days. Free, but you wait on Nextiva's team for changes.
- Languages are not published. If you need Spanish and XBert cannot handle it, you may need a second tool.
- Phone setup. The page does not explain forwarding or porting. Ask before you sign.
- No staffed backup. If your team misses a handoff, there is no human receptionist fallback to pay for, but also none to catch the call.
How XBert compares with rivals
Monthly cost at the same volume, assuming 3 minute average calls, as listed by each vendor in October 2026:
| Product | 50 calls | 100 calls | 300 calls | Billing unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nextiva XBert | $99 | $99 | $297 | Interaction |
| RingCentral AI Receptionist | $74 | $149 | $449 | Minute ($0.50) |
| Quo Sona (with one $19 seat) | $51.50 | $68 | $145.50 | Call |
| Upfirst | $54.95 | $69.95 | $159.95 | Call |
| Smith.ai | $75 | $212.50 | $500 | Call |
XBert is mid priced. It beats RingCentral as soon as calls run longer than 2 minutes, and beats Smith.ai's AI plans from about 60 calls a month up. Quo and Upfirst are cheaper, but Quo needs Quo numbers and Upfirst covers calls only, where XBert's 100 interactions also cover texts and chat. See the market wide numbers in the AI Price Index and the AI receptionist cost guide.
Is it worth it
At $99 for 100 interactions with free short calls, XBert is fair value for a small business with mixed calls, texts and chats, especially with longer calls. It is poor value at high volume, where per call rates of $0.45 to $0.75 elsewhere add up to large savings. Read the full Nextiva XBert review, or see Nextiva XBert alternatives.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Nextiva XBert cost per month?
$99 a month for 100 interactions, then $0.99 per extra interaction, as listed in October 2026. At 200 interactions the bill is $198; at 500 it is $495.
Is there a free trial of XBert?
Nextiva offers a 30 day money back guarantee rather than a free trial, with no long term contract.
Do short calls count against my XBert interactions?
No. A call counts only when it lasts 30 seconds or more, so hang ups, quick wrong numbers and robocalls that drop fast are free.
Do texts and web chats cost extra on XBert?
They come out of the same 100 interactions. A text or chat conversation counts once the AI sends 3 or more replies.
Are XBert integrations extra?
No. Nextiva lists live integrations (Google Calendar, Calendly, Cal.com, Zoho, Telegram, Housecall Pro) and on request integrations such as Salesforce, HubSpot and ServiceTitan, all at no cost.
Is XBert cheaper than RingCentral's AI Receptionist?
For calls longer than 2 minutes, yes. XBert charges $0.99 per interaction regardless of length; RingCentral charges $0.50 per minute after 100 minutes, so a 3 minute call costs $1.50 there in overage.
