Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Replit Agent is the most capable AI app builder for apps that need a real backend, scheduled jobs or a native mobile app. Core costs $20 a month and includes $20 of usage, so the fee doubles as credit. The tradeoff is effort based billing that is hard to predict, which drives its 2.8 Trustpilot score from 1,560 reviews.

Replit Agent suits people who want the agent, the database and hosting in one browser tab: Core at $20 a month includes $20 of usage credits and unlimited published apps. The tradeoff is effort based billing that can run past the included credits, and a 2.8 Trustpilot score from 1,560 reviews driven by billing complaints.

What it is
Replit is a browser based development platform, and Replit Agent is its AI builder. You describe what you want, the agent helps refine the idea, then writes the code, configures the infrastructure, tests the app and publishes it. Everything lives in one workspace: code, database, object storage, secrets and hosting.
Replit Agent can produce more than web apps. Its docs list web apps, native mobile apps, slides, designs, data visualizations and documents in a single project. A Design Canvas handles visual work, and a task system lets the agent work through a list.
Compared with Lovable and Bolt.new, Replit sits closer to a real development environment. You can open the files, use a shell and pick deployment types, which suits founders who expect to grow into the code later.
Pricing explained
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Included usage | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $0 | $0 | Daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap | Lite build only, one published app for 30 days, 2GB storage |

How billing works. Replit uses effort based pricing. Each request ends in one checkpoint when the agent finishes and implements the change, and the checkpoint is priced by the effort involved. Included credits are spent first; after that, usage is pay as you go. Replit's docs do not publish per checkpoint dollar examples, so the only way to know a task's cost is to watch the usage icon in the Agent tab or the Usage Dashboard (data appears within 30 minutes).
Modes. Free Mode is included usage on Core and Pro that resets every five hours. Power is a mid tier mode at moderate cost. Max uses frontier models for demanding work at the highest cost.
Hosting draws from the same credits. Monthly credits apply to publishing before any usage fees:
- Static deployments: hosting free, data transfer $0.05 per GB
- Autoscale: $2 a month base, $0.60 per million compute units, $0.40 per million requests, nothing when idle
- Scheduled: $2 a month base, $0.60 per million compute units
- Reserved VM: $15 a month shared (0.5 vCPU, 2GB), $35 dedicated small, $50 medium, $130 large
Worked example. A small business app on autoscale with modest traffic uses the $2 base plus some compute, leaving most of Core's $20 for the agent. An always on bot or API on the cheapest Reserved VM takes $15 of the $20, leaving $5 for building. On Pro, the same VM leaves $85.

Key features
Plan mode and the task system
Plan mode breaks a project into a task list, explores approaches and lets you review before the agent builds. It is not available on the free Starter plan. Using it before big changes is the best way to avoid paying for a wrong build.
Checkpoints and rollback
Each completed request creates a checkpoint you can revert to. Pro adds database rollback up to 28 days, which matters when an agent change damages data, not just code.
Built in testing
The agent tests what it builds before reporting back. Reviewers still say it can claim work is done when it is not, so check the preview yourself.
Databases, storage and connectors
Databases and object storage are part of the workspace, with development and production databases kept separate. Connectors cover services such as Stripe and Google, warehouse connectors, MCP servers, and in chat data access to BigQuery, Linear, Slack and Notion. Third party connectors need a paid plan.
Native mobile apps
Replit builds iOS and Android apps with Expo and lets you preview them on your phone. Among the big four builders, it is the only one with a documented native mobile path.
Parallel agents
Pro runs up to 10 agents or background tasks at once; Core runs one. Useful for teams working on several features at the same time.
What users say
On Trustpilot, Replit scores 2.8 from 1,560 reviews.
Recurring complaints, roughly 70% of recent reviews by the platform's summary:
- Billing and credits (the largest share): monthly credits draining fast, unexpected extra charges, confusion between subscription credits and top ups, and charges after cancellation.
- Agent reliability: the agent stuck in repeated error fixing loops that consume credits, unfinished tasks presented as done, and agents failing quickly on some projects.
- Support: slow responses on critical issues and front line replies that do not escalate.
Recurring praise: fast prototyping for simple projects, a clean interface, and usefulness for non technical founders building MVPs.
Replit sits between Lovable (4.2 from 1,847) and Bolt.new (1.6 from 204) on Trustpilot.
Privacy and security
- Certifications: SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance; ISO 27001 in progress.
- Isolation: every customer gets an isolated Google Cloud project, free tier included. Deployments include DDoS protection and a web application firewall.
- Secrets: credentials are injected at runtime through a proxy, hidden from both your code and the AI.
- Scanning: a Security Agent scans before deployment, and Auto Protect watches published apps for new vulnerabilities and prepares patches.
- Testing: a public HackerOne bug bounty, penetration testing by Trail of Bits and internal red teaming.
- Training: Replit's privacy policy says it uses collected code and prompts to improve its machine learning technologies such as code generation, and does not describe a training opt out. Enterprise buyers should get training terms in the contract.
Who it is for
- Founders and operators building internal tools with real data
- Apps that need scheduled jobs, always on services or warehouse data
- Anyone who wants a native mobile app without hiring a developer
- Teams of up to 15 who want parallel agents in one workspace
Who should skip it
- You need a fixed monthly bill. Effort based billing varies by task. Lovable shows the credit cost of every message.
- You only need a marketing site. Lovable or Bolt.new is simpler and cheaper for static pages.
- You care most about polished React UI. v0 is built for Next.js front ends on Vercel.
- Review sentiment is a deal breaker. Its 2.8 rating centers on billing disputes.
Alternatives
- Lovable: easiest for non developers, unlimited members, $25 for 100 credits
- Bolt.new: biggest free allowance at 1M tokens a month
- v0: front end focus, GitHub pull requests, Vercel deploys
- Claude Code: work on your own repo for $20 a month with Claude Pro

Verdict
Replit Agent is the most complete AI app builder: agent, database, connectors, mobile and four deployment types in one tab, with a fair Core plan whose $20 fee comes back as $20 of usage. It is the right pick when your app has a real backend or needs to be on a phone. The cost is predictability. Effort based billing plus hosting on the same credit pool means a busy month can run past the plan, and its reviews say so loudly. Set a budget limit on day one, plan before you build, and roll back instead of looping. Our full ranking is in best AI app builders.

Kiro4.1Frequently asked questions
How much does Replit Agent cost?
Replit Agent comes with Replit plans. Starter is free with limited daily credits. Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed annually, and includes $20 of usage. Pro is $100 a month, or $90 annually, and includes $100 of usage plus 10 parallel agents and up to 15 collaborators. Enterprise is custom. Usage past your included credits is pay as you go.
What is Replit effort based pricing?
Replit charges for completed work rather than for each token or message. When the agent finishes a request it creates one checkpoint, and the price of that checkpoint reflects how much effort the task took. Simple edits cost less than complex builds. You can see the cost by hovering over the usage icon in the Agent tab.
Is Replit Agent free?
There is a free Starter plan with daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, but it is limited to Lite build for quick edits, one published app that expires after 30 days, and no third party connectors or Plan mode. Full build mode needs Core or Pro.
Why is Replit so expensive?
Most complaints come from effort based billing on long tasks: when the agent loops on an error, each attempt adds to the cost. Hosting also draws from the same credits. Set a budget limit and usage alerts in settings, use Plan mode before large changes, and roll back to a checkpoint rather than asking the agent to fix the same bug repeatedly.
Can Replit Agent build mobile apps?
Yes. Replit's docs cover building native iOS and Android apps with Expo and previewing them on your phone. That is a clear advantage over Lovable, Bolt.new and v0, which build web apps.
Do Replit credits roll over?
Replit's AI billing docs say Pro subscribers get tiered monthly credits with a two month rollover. Its publishing docs say unused monthly credits do not carry over. Treat Core credits as use it or lose it each month.
What are Replit Agent's modes?
Replit lists Free Mode, included usage that resets every five hours on Core and Pro, plus Power for strong capability at moderate cost and Max for demanding work on frontier models. Core includes up to 30 hours of chat in Free Mode.
Is Replit Agent better than Lovable?
For backend heavy apps, scheduled jobs, data connectors and mobile, Replit is stronger. For a first web app with predictable costs and a team sharing one plan, Lovable is the better pick, and its reviews are much stronger (4.2 versus 2.8 on Trustpilot).
