Artisan Review 2026: Ava AI BDR Pricing, Features and Verdict
Artisan's managed AI BDR, judged on its published plan limits, its controls and what 42 Trustpilot reviewers report about credits and reply rates.
By , research by the BestBots team · Updated Oct 19, 2026
Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Artisan is the best managed AI BDR for a small or mid sized team that wants outbound run for it: Ava finds leads in a 250M+ contact database, emails from your reps' domains and books meetings, with a CSM in Slack from day one. The catch is opacity. Its pricing page is quote only and reviewers say credits run out fast.

Artisan sells Ava as an AI BDR with a human team behind it: CSM onboarding, sending infrastructure and SOC 2 Type II, sized around 2,500 or 6,000 leads contacted a month. Every price is quote only, and Trustpilot reviewers (4.1 from 42) mention fast credit burn, low reply rates and an email first product rather than true multichannel.

What it is
Artisan sells Ava, an "AI BDR." According to Artisan, she:
- Finds and enriches leads from 250M+ verified B2B contacts, 200M+ local businesses and 22+ data sources, prioritized by intent signals such as funding rounds and leadership hires
- Writes and sends personalized outreach across email and social, in your reps' names from your domains
- Tests dozens of message variations per campaign and shifts volume to what works
- Handles replies, objections and scheduling, and books meetings on your reps' calendars
Ava runs cold outbound, signal based campaigns, CRM re engagement and cross sell and upsell campaigns. What she does not do is call. Artisan says Ava cannot legally make calls, so call steps are queued for your reps in a built in dialer.
The pitch is a full outbound stack in one product: data, enrichment, deliverability, sequencing, dialer and signals. Artisan says thousands of BDRs, AEs and AMs use it, and its comparison page claims 6,000+ sales teams. Named customers include SaaStr, SumUp and CookUnity.
Pricing explained
Artisan's pricing page shows three plans and no prices.
| Plan | Volume | What is added | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team | About 2,500 leads contacted a month | Every campaign type, autonomous replies and booking, 250M+ contacts, Salesforce and HubSpot sync, CSM onboarding | Quote only |
| Scale | About 6,000 leads contacted a month | Dedicated CSM, CRM setup, priority support | Quote only |
| Enterprise | Custom | Forward deployed strategist, full onboarding buildout, advanced security controls, audit logs | Custom |
The AI dialer is an add on priced per seat. Artisan says plans are sized to lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats, with "no hidden line items."
The $250 a month claim
On its own Artisan vs 11x page, Artisan advertises a free trial with no credit card, setup in about 10 minutes and "plans from $250/mo, monthly, cancel anytime." That entry offer is not on the pricing page, and no plan limits are attached to it. If you are quoted more, ask whether the $250 plan exists for your volume and what it includes.
What buyers report
A UK reviewer on Trustpilot mentions paying a four figure sum each month. Other reviewers describe multi month commitments once account management is involved. We could not verify a typical contract value from a public source, so treat both the $250 floor and the reviewer figure as data points, not a price list. Our Artisan pricing page models cost per lead at three volumes.
Credits
Artisan prices by credit volume, tuned to your plan. The most common complaint on Trustpilot is that credits deplete faster than the promised number of prospects contacted. Before signing, ask for:
- How many credits one lead costs to find, enrich and contact
- Whether bounced or unverified leads still burn credits
- Whether unused credits roll over
- The price of top ups
Key features
Lead database and local data
250M+ verified B2B contacts plus 200M+ local businesses, which is unusual among AI SDRs and useful if you sell to restaurants, clinics or trades. Ava enriches from 22+ sources and lets you import from your CRM.
Autonomous campaigns
Cold outbound, intent signal triggers, CRM re engagement and expansion campaigns. Artisan says you can define custom signals in plain English, alongside prebuilt ones.
Controls
Approval before sending, tone and CTA locks, banned phrases, coaching on writing style, escalation rules and manual takeover of any thread. This is the strongest guardrail set we have seen published by an AI BDR vendor.
Dialer and blitz room
A parallel dialer with a blitz room for reps, with a brief before each call and a summary after. Priced per seat as an add on.
Deliverability
Sending infrastructure sized to your motion, set up during onboarding. Artisan does not publish mailbox counts, daily send caps or warmup details on the pricing page, so ask.
Integrations
Bi directional Salesforce and HubSpot sync on every plan, custom webhooks and a Slack integration for performance updates.
Data accuracy and deliverability
Artisan claims "verified" contacts and strong deliverability, and several Trustpilot reviewers praise deliverability and personalization. Others report poor conversion. One reviewer reports a 0.07% positive reply rate over several months, which on 2,500 leads a month is under two positive replies. Low reply rates usually come from the list and the offer rather than the sender, but an AI BDR that runs autonomously can burn through a total addressable market fast. Start in approval mode, read the first 200 messages yourself and check bounce rates weekly.
What users say
Trustpilot: 4.1 from 42 reviews, with 81% five star, 5% four star, 5% two star and 9% one star. Artisan replied to about 20% of negative reviews, usually within 24 hours.
Praise: customer success staff named repeatedly for hands on help, consolidation of several sales tools, deliverability and personalization, and an intuitive interface.
Complaints: credits running out faster than expected, an email first product rather than true multichannel, weak conversion for some campaigns, a service that feels immature in places, and inflexible multi month terms.
Privacy and security
Artisan is SOC 2 Type II certified and says it is GDPR ready. It supports SSO and SAML, audit logs and advanced security controls on Enterprise, and publishes a DPA and a trust center. Ava sends as your reps, so you are the sender of record for CAN SPAM and GDPR purposes: you need an unsubscribe path, a lawful basis in the EU and suppression of opt outs. Artisan does not state on its pricing page whether customer data trains its models; ask for that in the DPA.
Who it is for
- Startups and SMBs without a BDR team that want outbound running in weeks
- Teams that sell to local businesses as well as B2B companies
- Buyers who want vendor help, a CSM and a Slack channel rather than self serve
- Companies that need SOC 2 Type II and SSO
Who should skip it
- Teams that need LinkedIn and AI calling in the same sequence; look at lemlist or 11x
- Buyers who want a published price; Reply.io and AiSDR publish theirs
- High volume senders who already have lists; Instantly is far cheaper per email
- Anyone unwilling to read and approve messages in the first month
Alternatives
- 11x: more channels, including AI voice, for enterprises
- Reply.io: Jason AI SDR at $500 a month on annual billing
- AiSDR: pay per person prospected, no contract
- Amplemarket: data, dialer and AI copywriting from $600 a month
- Apollo: the do it yourself budget option

Verdict
Artisan is the most buyer friendly of the managed AI BDRs on controls and onboarding, and its local business data is a real differentiator. It loses points on pricing transparency: a quote only pricing page next to a "$250 a month" claim on a comparison page, and repeated reviewer complaints about credit burn. If you shortlist it, get the credit cost per lead in writing, start on separate domains in approval mode and judge it on meetings held after 60 days. It ranks as the best managed AI BDR in our best AI SDR tools guide.

How much does Artisan cost?
Artisan's pricing page lists no prices. Plans are scoped to lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats: Team for about 2,500 leads contacted a month, Scale for about 6,000, and custom Enterprise. Artisan's own Artisan vs 11x page says plans start from $250 a month on monthly terms. One UK Trustpilot reviewer mentions a four figure monthly bill. Get a written quote with the credit allowance spelled out.
Is Artisan AI worth it?
It can be for a team with a clear ICP, enough volume for 2,500+ leads a month and no BDR to run outbound. The managed onboarding and controls are strong. It is a weaker buy if you need LinkedIn and phone automation, since reviewers describe it as mostly email, or if you cannot verify the credit math before signing.
Can Ava make phone calls?
No. Artisan says Ava cannot legally make calls. She queues call steps and builds a list of qualified prospects with talking points, and your reps dial them from Artisan's parallel dialer, which is a paid add on per seat.
Does Artisan send from my domain?
Yes. Ava sends in your reps' names from your own sending domains, with sending infrastructure sized to your plan. Protect your main domain by using separate sending domains for cold outreach.
Can I review Ava's emails before they send?
Yes. Approval mode lets you approve every message, and you can lock tone and calls to action, ban phrases, coach Ava's writing and set escalation rules for when a human takes over. Artisan says most teams start in approval mode.
Does Artisan have a free trial?
Artisan's Artisan vs 11x page advertises a free trial with no credit card. The pricing page only offers a demo. Ask your rep which applies to your plan size.
What is the difference between Artisan and 11x?
Artisan focuses on email outbound with a built in contact database and dialer for reps, and markets monthly plans. 11x adds AI voice and inbound agents and sells annual contracts. See [11x vs Artisan](/11x-vs-artisan).
What are the best Artisan alternatives?
Reply.io's Jason AI SDR is the best published price alternative, AiSDR bills per person prospected with no contract, and Amplemarket bundles data and a dialer for funded teams. See [Artisan alternatives](/artisan-alternatives).
