#2 Best for editing recorded voice

Descript

4.0
Starting price
$24 per month
Free plan
Yes

Descript lets you fix a recording by typing, in a voice clone made from a recorded consent statement, and adds Studio Sound and filler word removal. Hobbyist is $16 a month billed yearly with 600 media minutes.

Pros

  • Edit audio and video by editing the transcript, including one click filler word removal
  • Underlord AI co-editor, Studio Sound, Eye Contact and Green Screen on every paid plan
  • Voice clones require the speaker's recorded consent statement, and Descript says no user data trains its production models
  • SOC 2 Type II, with AI features opt in

Cons

  • The pricing page does not say what an AI credit buys, and Underlord costs vary by task
  • Unused media minutes and AI credits do not roll over
  • Top ups are limited to Creator and Business
  • Trustpilot 2.6 from 290 reviews, citing credit drain, desktop crashes and hard cancellations

Skip it if you only need TTS from scripts.

2.6 out of 5 from 290 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

  • 4K export from the $49 Pro plan, and videos up to 30 minutes on Creator
  • Trustpilot 4.2 from 4,620 reviews and 4.8 on the App Store from 28,533 ratings, the best ratings of the avatar tools compared

Cons

  • Non Enterprise data can be used for model training unless you opt out
  • Business adds $20 per seat on top of $149 a month

Skip it if you only need audio.

4.8 out of 5 from 28,533 reviews on App Store (October 2026).

#4 Best for training videos with presenters

Cons

  • Exports top out at 1080p, while HeyGen offers 4K from $49
  • About 22 minutes a month on the $29 Starter plan, so cost per minute is high for volume work
  • Stock avatars cannot be used in paid social ads, news or political content without written permission
  • Recurring complaints about strict moderation delays and credits that do not roll over

Skip it if you need audio files for podcasts or audiobooks.

3.8 out of 5 from 1,829 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

4.6 out of 5 from 1,124,280 reviews on App Store (October 2026).

#6 Best for songs with vocals

Suno

The most used AI song generator: full songs with vocals from a text prompt, plus Suno Studio for stems, MIDI and editing.

3.6
Starting price
$8 per month
Free plan
Yes
Commercial use
Pro and Premier, only for songs you spend a download on (20 or 60 a month); Suno assigns ownership to paid users
API
No public developer API listed

If you use Eleven Music for songs, Suno is the dedicated tool: Pro is $8 for about 500 songs on v6 models built with licensed data from WMG, BMG and Believe, with ownership on paid plans.

Pros

  • $8 a month buys about 500 songs, the most generations per dollar of the music tools compared
  • Paid plans assign song ownership to you and include commercial rights on downloaded tracks
  • v6 models built with licensed data from Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe, with revenue shared with those partners
  • Suno Studio adds stems, MIDI, effects and automation; Premier Studio exports are not capped

Cons

  • Downloads capped at 20 (Pro) or 60 (Premier) a month since September 3, 2026, and a song cannot be released commercially until a download is spent on it
  • Universal and Sony are still suing in Boston, a Munich court ruled against Suno for GEMA in July 2026, and more suits are pending
  • Trustpilot score of 1.7 from 192 reviews, driven by download limits, billing and AI only support
  • Free plan has no downloads and no commercial use

Skip it if you need more than 20 downloads a month on Pro or want to avoid pending label litigation.

4.9 out of 5 from 375,625 reviews on App Store (October 2026).

Why people leave ElevenLabs

  • Credits drain fast outside narration: music uses about 900 credits a minute and dubbing 2,000 to 10,000.
  • Support and billing. Trustpilot is 3.0 from 1,188, citing renewals and AI chatbot support.
  • API price. $0.04 to $0.08 per 1,000 characters is 4 to 8 times Murf Falcon.
  • Free is non commercial.

When to stay on ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs has the widest voice range we compared (74 languages, thousands of voices), instant cloning from $6, professional cloning from $22, credits that roll over for 2 months, and narration, dubbing, sound effects and licensed music under one plan. If you clone your own voice or dub into many languages, no alternative here matches it. For phone agents, see ElevenLabs Agents.

Switching checklist

Save your clones and projects. Voice clones do not transfer between vendors. Export audio you have generated and keep the source recordings you used to train clones, so you can rebuild on a new platform with its own consent process.

Use your rollover. ElevenLabs credits roll over for up to 2 months on active paid plans. Spend them before you downgrade or cancel.

Benchmark the API on your text. For developers, send the same 10,000 characters to Murf Falcon ($0.10 at $0.01 per 1,000) and ElevenLabs Flash ($0.40 at $0.04 per 1,000) and compare latency and pronunciation of your domain terms. Murf says Falcon delivers under 100ms time to first audio.

Check the license per tool. Murf grants commercial rights on content made with its voices but bans reselling voices or training AI on output. CapCut's commercial use depends on which assets you use. ElevenLabs Free was non commercial, so anything made there needs re-rendering on a paid plan anywhere.

Split the stack if it saves money. Many teams keep ElevenLabs Starter or Creator for cloning and dubbing and move bulk, plain narration to Murf's API.

Keep agents separate. If you also run phone agents, those bill per call minute on ElevenLabs Agents and are not replaced by any tool on this list.

Red flags

  • Cloning someone else's voice without consent breaks every vendor's terms on this list.
  • Music litigation. Suno faces suits from Universal and Sony; ElevenLabs has a UMG licensing deal for Eleven Music.
  • CapCut's terms grant a perpetual license to your content and a license to your name and likeness.

How we picked

Each pick beats ElevenLabs on a published fact as listed in October 2026: price, compliance, workflow, a face on screen or a dedicated music model. Ranking weighs that advantage, value, commercial clarity and trust; see how we score. Compare ElevenLabs vs Murf AI or browse the best AI voice generators.
