The business voiceover studio, judged on its published plans, hours of voice generation, API rates, licensing terms, security and user ratings.

Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Murf AI is a solid business voiceover tool for training videos, presentations and ads. You get commercial rights, voices licensed from paid actors, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and a very cheap API at $0.01 per 1,000 characters. The weak spots are tight Studio limits (2 hours for $29) and voice cloning locked to Enterprise.

A safe, business friendly voiceover tool: commercial rights on Murf voices, actor licensed voices, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and a cheap API at $0.01 to $0.03 per 1,000 characters. Studio plans buy only 2 to 20 hours of voice generation a month, and voice cloning sits on Enterprise.

What it is
Murf has two products. Murf Studio is a browser based voiceover editor: paste a script, pick one of 200+ voices in 35+ languages, adjust pitch, speed, pauses and emphasis line by line, sync the audio to slides or video, and export. Murf API sells the same voices to developers, led by Falcon, a low latency model Murf says delivers under 100ms time to first audio, and Gen2 for higher quality narration.
Around the Studio sit integrations for Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides and Adobe Captivate, plus AI dubbing and a voice changer. Murf does not generate music or sound effects.
Pricing explained
Murf's Studio tab renders in the browser, so we read the figures from the plan feed behind murf.ai/pricing. Murf prices Studio plans by hours of voice generation per month.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Voice generation | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 | $0 | Limited, no hours listed | 1 |
| Creator Lite | $29 | $23 per month ($276) | 2 hours a month (24 a year) | 1 |
| Creator Plus | $49 | $39 per month ($468) | 4 hours a month (48 a year) | 1 |
| Business Lite | $99 | $79 per month ($948) | 8 hours a month (96 a year) | Up to 3 editors and 5 viewers |
| Business Plus | $199 | $159 per month ($1,908) | 20 hours a month (240 a year) | Up to 3 editors and 5 viewers |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom, with cloning, SSO, SLA |
Annual plans load the year's hours up front, which helps if your work is seasonal, such as a training refresh every quarter.
API pricing
| API product | Price |
|---|---|
| Falcon TTS | $0.01 per 1,000 characters |
| Gen2 TTS | $0.03 per 1,000 characters |
| Voice changer | $0.10 per minute |
| Translation | $0.02 per 1,000 characters |
The API is pay as you go with 5 concurrent requests, purchased credit never expires, and the trial includes $10 of free calls.
The math
A minute of narration is roughly 900 to 1,000 characters. On Falcon that is about $0.01 a minute; on Gen2 about $0.03. On Creator Lite, $29 for 120 minutes is about $0.24 a minute. So for anything automated, the API is roughly 10 to 25 times cheaper than Studio hours. For comparison, ElevenLabs charges $0.04 to $0.08 per 1,000 characters on its API.
One caution: Murf's two pricing feeds disagree on some plan names and annual prices, so confirm the number at checkout.
Key features
Voice library
200+ voices across 35+ languages and accents, organized by use case (e-learning, ads, explainers, audiobooks). Murf says voices are licensed from paid voice actors who earn royalties, which is a cleaner provenance story than libraries built from scraped audio.
Studio editor
Line by line control of pitch, speed, pauses and emphasis, pronunciation fixes, and syncing narration to imported slides or video. It is closer to a voiceover booth than a chat box.
Slide and course integrations
Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides and Adobe Captivate integrations let L&D and marketing teams add narration without exporting audio files back and forth.
Falcon and Gen2 API
Falcon targets real time apps with under 100ms time to first audio at $0.01 per 1,000 characters. Gen2 targets narration quality at $0.03.
Dubbing and voice changer
Murf Dub translates video into other languages, and the voice changer re-voices a recording in a Murf voice at $0.10 per minute via API.
Voice cloning
Listed on Enterprise only. Self serve users cannot clone their own voice.
Commercial rights and licensing
Murf's terms grant commercial rights to content you create with Murf voices. Two limits apply: you cannot resell or redistribute the voices themselves, and you cannot use Murf output to train AI models. Because the voices come from licensed actors, Murf avoids the consent questions that come with cloning tools. Cloning on Enterprise requires the rights to the voice being cloned.
We found no lawsuits against Murf over voices or training data in the sources we reviewed.
What users say
| Site | Rating | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| Trustpilot | 4.6 | 186 |
That is the strongest Trustpilot score among the voice tools we compared; ElevenLabs sits at 3.0. Three quarters of Murf's reviews are five stars and 12% are one star.
The praise centers on natural sounding voices that avoid a robotic tone, an interface that makes professional voiceovers quick for non audio people, and the Canva integration. The complaints center on a Studio that some find clunky or laggy, cancellation requests that go unanswered while monthly charges continue, prices that feel high for the hours included, and unused allowances that expire without refund. If you sign up monthly, note your renewal date and cancel in account settings well before it.
Privacy and security
Murf's pricing page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA. Enterprise adds data residency, an on premise deployment option, SLAs and an MSA. For regulated industries that need paperwork before a pilot, this is a real advantage over tools that keep compliance behind sales.
Who it is for
- E-learning and corporate training teams narrating courses and slide decks.
- Marketers producing explainers and ad voiceovers with a consistent brand voice.
- Regulated teams that need SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA in place.
- Developers who want a very cheap TTS API.
Who should skip it
- Creators who want to clone their own voice on a self serve plan. Use ElevenLabs or Descript.
- Heavy narrators. 2 hours for $29 runs out fast on audiobooks.
- Anyone who needs music or sound effects. Murf does not offer them.
- Multilingual dubbing at volume. ElevenLabs covers 74 languages to Murf's 35+.
Alternatives
- ElevenLabs: widest voice range, cloning from $6, dubbing and music. See ElevenLabs vs Murf AI.
- Descript: voice clones inside a full audio and video editor.
- Synthesia: if your training videos need an on screen presenter.
- HeyGen: avatars plus lip synced translation.

Verdict
Murf AI is the safe corporate choice for voiceovers: licensed actor voices, commercial rights, a polished slide friendly studio and compliance paperwork on the pricing page. Studio hours are the constraint, so heavy users should either move to the API, where Falcon costs about a penny per minute, or buy an annual Business plan. If you need cloning or the widest voice range, ElevenLabs is the better tool.
