Fact checked against each company's published pricing, documentation and verified user ratings. How we score
Granola is the best AI note taker for people who never want a bot in the call. It listens through your device audio on any meeting app, enhances the notes you type, supports 31 languages on desktop and has no daily transcription limit on any plan. The tradeoffs are a 30 day history window on the free plan, monthly only billing on Business at $14, and Salesforce locked to Enterprise.

The best pick if you never want a bot in the participant list: it listens through your device audio and enhances the notes you type, with no daily transcription limit even on the free plan. The free plan only shows your last 30 days of notes, and Business at $14 per user is billed monthly only.

What it is
Granola is an AI notepad for meetings. Instead of sending a bot, it captures your computer audio (or phone audio on mobile) while you take rough notes. After the call it combines your notes with the transcript into a clean, structured write up. You can then chat with your notes, share them, or send them to tools like Notion, HubSpot and Slack.
Because it captures locally, it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles and any other meeting app, and with in person meetings, walking meetings and conferences through the phone app. Granola lists desktop apps for macOS and Windows and mobile apps for iOS, Android and Apple Watch.
Pricing explained
| Plan | Price | Billing | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | Free | AI notes, no daily transcription limit, 30 day note history, auto model chat, shared folders, templates, Slack only |
| Business | $14 per user per month | Monthly only | Unlimited history, model selection, Notion, HubSpot, Zapier, Attio, Affinity, API and MCP |
| Enterprise | From $35 per user per month | Monthly or annual | SSO, SCIM, HIPAA workspaces, admin policies, audit API, Salesforce |
Prices are as listed on Granola's pricing page and help center in October 2026.
Billing is per workspace. Every member of a workspace shares the same plan and you pay one seat per active member. If you want to upgrade only yourself, Granola's help center says to create a personal workspace and upgrade that one.
There is no annual discount below Enterprise. Business is billed monthly, so a 10 person team pays $1,680 a year. Otter Pro on annual billing would cost $999.60 for the same team, and Fireflies Pro $1,200.
Free history is hidden, not deleted. On Basic, notes older than 30 days stay stored but are not visible in the app until you upgrade. You can export a CSV of titles and summaries from settings in the meantime.
Programs. Accepted startups and students get 12 months of Business free, and registered nonprofits can apply for 50% off Business.
Features
Bot free capture. The core feature. Nothing joins the meeting, so there is no bot in the participant list and nothing for an IT team to block.
Notes that start from yours. Granola enhances the notes you type rather than replacing them, so the output follows your structure and priorities. Templates and recipes help you standardize formats for recurring meetings.
Transcription. No daily limit on any plan. 31 languages on desktop and 17 on mobile, with a meeting language setting for better accuracy.
Chat. Ask questions across your meetings. Basic uses automatic model selection; Business lets you choose the model, and Enterprise admins control access to newer models.
Integrations. Slack on Basic. Notion, HubSpot, Zapier, Attio and Affinity on Business, plus an API and MCP integration. Salesforce on Enterprise.
Transparency tools. Granola offers an automated chat message and a Granola Watermark so participants know notes are being taken, available to individuals on Free and Business and enforceable by admins on Enterprise.
Security. Model training opt out is listed on every plan, including free. HIPAA compliant workspaces, SSO, SCIM, audit API and MDM support are on Enterprise.
What it does not list: video or audio recording playback. If you need a recording to share, pick a bot based tool such as Fathom.
Setup
Download the desktop app for macOS or Windows, sign in and connect your calendar. Granola detects meetings and starts capturing device audio; you take notes as you normally would. Speaker labels for Zoom and Teams need a one time setup described in the help center. Mobile capture is a separate free app that syncs with desktop.
Who it is for
- Consultants, founders and investors on back to back external calls where a bot would be awkward.
- People who take their own notes and want AI to clean them up rather than write them from scratch.
- Multilingual professionals, given 31 desktop languages.
- In person meetings, through the phone and Apple Watch apps.
Who should skip it
- Teams that need recordings. No plan lists video or audio playback.
- Salesforce teams on a budget. Salesforce needs Enterprise from $35 a user, against $10 a seat on Fireflies Pro annual.
- Annual budget buyers. With no annual Business plan, Granola costs more per year than Otter, Krisp or Notta on annual billing.
How it compares on price
| Tool | First paid tier | 10 seats per year | Bot free |
|---|---|---|---|
| Granola Business | $14 monthly only | $1,680 | Yes, every plan |
| Krisp Core | $8 annual, $16 monthly | $960 | Yes, every plan |
| Otter Pro | $8.33 annual, $16.99 monthly | $999.60 | Desktop app only |
| Fathom Team | $15 annual, $19 monthly | $1,800 | Mac beta |
Krisp is the closest bot free rival on price, at $8 a user on annual billing with noise cancellation, but it has no free plan and caps Core storage at 10 GB. Granola's advantage is a usable free plan, more languages (31 against Krisp's 17+) and notes that build on what you type.
Where it falls short
The 30 day history window makes the free plan a trial for anyone who needs an archive. Business has no annual discount, so heavy users pay more per year than on Otter or Krisp. Salesforce and HIPAA are both Enterprise features, and the app interface is English only even though transcription covers 31 languages.
Verdict
Granola ranks third in our best AI note takers guide and first among bot free options. It is the cleanest way to get AI notes from any meeting app without anyone seeing a recorder, and the free plan is usable as long as you upgrade or export before the 30 day window matters. Pick Fathom instead if you want free unlimited recordings, or Fireflies if your team needs CRM sync on a budget.
