We compared eight AI receptionists and answering services on what their pricing pages, product pages and review listings say as of October 2026. Scores follow our published rubric.

How to choose

The first agent to call back usually gets the appointment. Judge each tool on these points:

  • Answer on the first ring, every time. Sign calls, portal leads and open house follow ups come at nights and weekends.
  • Qualify fast. Buying or selling, timeline, price range, pre approved or not, already working with an agent.
  • Book on the call. A showing or listing appointment on your calendar beats a message.
  • CRM sync. Every caller should land in Follow Up Boss, HubSpot, Salesforce or your CRM with notes, not on a sticky note.
  • Billing that fits. Sign calls are short and repeat buyers call often. Per call (Smith.ai, Upfirst) and per unique caller (Goodcall) billing behave very differently from per minute plans.
  • Fair housing guardrails. The AI speaks for your license.

Our picks, in detail

#1 Best overall for real estate teams

Smith.ai

AI receptionist billed per answered call, with a free 25 call plan and an optional network of live North America based receptionists behind it.

4.4
Starting price
$0 per month
Minutes or calls included
25 calls free; 75 to 500 calls on paid tiers
Appointment booking
Yes, AI scheduling with Calendly and other calendars on all plans
CRM integrations
Clio Grow, Clio Manage, HubSpot, Salesforce, plus Zapier and Make

Smith.ai qualifies leads, books showings through Calendly and other calendars, and pushes contacts into HubSpot and Salesforce natively, with Zapier and Make for other CRMs. When a buyer or seller needs a person, it escalates to live North America based receptionists, and it answers in English and Spanish. Its free plan covers 25 calls, and Trustpilot shows 4.3 from 375 reviews.

Pros

  • Free plan with 25 real calls a month, so you can run it on live traffic before paying
  • Escalation to live North America based receptionists when the AI should not handle a call
  • Native Clio, HubSpot and Salesforce integrations, plus Zapier and Make
  • Spam calls from a list of 20 million+ known numbers are filtered and not billed
  • Recording, transcription, summaries and lead qualification on every plan

Cons

  • Per call rates of $1.60 to $3.00 are two to four times what Upfirst charges at similar volume
  • Live agent calls cost extra per call, and that rate is not on the AI pricing page
  • Volumes above 500 calls are quote only
  • Six month term plans are non refundable, and Trustpilot reviewers describe disputes over exactly that

Skip it if you are a solo agent watching cost; at 300 calls a month it costs $500 where Upfirst costs $159.95.

4.3 out of 5 from 375 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

#2 Best value for solo agents

Upfirst

Low cost AI receptionist billed per call, with calendar booking, warm transfers and 35+ languages from the $24.95 plan up.

4.3
Starting price
$24.95 per month
Minutes or calls included
30 to 600 calls depending on plan
Appointment booking
Yes, Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Acuity, Square and Clio
CRM integrations
Clio, Zapier and custom API actions

Upfirst covers 90 calls for $59.95 and 300 for $159.95, and spam, silent and sub 15 second calls are not billed, which matters when your number is on a yard sign. It books into Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly and Acuity on every plan and speaks 35+ languages with automatic switching.

Pros

  • Lowest entry price among per call receptionists at $24.95 for 30 calls
  • Spam, sub 15 second and silent calls are not billed
  • Calendar booking on every plan, including Clio, Calendly, Acuity and Square
  • 35+ languages with automatic switching when the caller changes language
  • 14 day free trial and 20% off for annual billing

Cons

  • No review listing with 10 or more reviews that we could find, so less public proof than Smith.ai
  • No staffed human backup; transfers go to your own phones
  • HIPAA BAAs only on custom plans above 600 calls
  • Native CRM list is short beyond Clio; most CRMs go through Zapier

Skip it if you need a native real estate CRM link; most CRMs go through Zapier, and we found no review listing with 10+ reviews.

#3 Best live receptionist with Follow Up Boss

Ruby

Live virtual receptionists, 24/7, with AI tools working in the background; Ruby does not sell a standalone AI receptionist.

4.0
Starting price
$250 per month
Minutes or calls included
50 to 500 live receptionist minutes
Appointment booking
Yes, Google Calendar and Calendly integrations
CRM integrations
Clio, Lawmatics, Law Ruler, Filevine, MyCase, Rocket Matter, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, JobNimbus, FieldPulse, Follow Up Boss

Ruby is the only record that lists Follow Up Boss, alongside HubSpot, Salesforce and Zoho, and a live receptionist answers every call around the clock. It has 4.5 on Trustpilot from 853 reviews.

Pros

  • A live receptionist answers every call 24/7, including weekends and holidays
  • Legal integrations: Clio, Lawmatics, Law Ruler, Filevine, MyCase, Rocket Matter
  • AI transcripts, sentiment analysis and robocall filtering included at no extra cost
  • No contracts and no activation, setup or customization fees
  • 4.5 on Trustpilot from 853 reviews and 4.8 on the App Store from 338 ratings

Cons

  • About $3.45 to $5.00 per included minute, several times the cost of AI tools
  • No standalone AI receptionist; AI only assists the human receptionists
  • Overage rate, billing increment, Spanish and HIPAA add on prices are not published
  • Some Trustpilot reviewers say robocalls pushed them toward bigger plans

Skip it if price matters; plans start at $250 for 50 minutes, overage is not published, and Spanish is an add on.

4.5 out of 5 from 853 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

#4 Cheapest per minute plan with SMS included

Dialzara

AI phone answering service billed by the minute, from $29 for 60 minutes, with booking, routing and bilingual English and Spanish.

3.9
Starting price
$29 per month
Minutes or calls included
60 to 1,000 minutes
Appointment booking
Yes, books into your calendar
CRM integrations
Google Calendar, Outlook, Zapier, Make, webhooks, Slack, Teams; CRMs not named

Dialzara starts at $29 for 60 minutes and $99 for 220, with booking, lead qualification and English and Spanish on every plan. An AI SMS agent and website chat come free with any voice plan, so portal and site leads get a text reply too.

Pros

  • $29 entry plan is the lowest monthly price in this group
  • AI SMS agent and website chat included free with any voice plan
  • English and Spanish, booking and lead qualification on every plan
  • Trustpilot 4.2 from 20 reviews, mostly praising support
  • No setup fees or contracts

Cons

  • 60 minutes on Lite runs out fast; 200 minutes costs about $96
  • No annual discount: yearly billing is 12 times the monthly price
  • Native CRM integrations are not named; most CRMs go through Zapier, Make or webhooks
  • No HIPAA statement; regulated setups are on request

Skip it if you need named CRM integrations; Dialzara does not publish them.

4.2 out of 5 from 20 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

#5 Best for buyers who call back often

Goodcall

AI receptionist billed per unique caller per month, not per minute or per call, from $79.

3.8
Starting price
$79 per month
Minutes or calls included
100 to 2,000 unique callers, unlimited minutes
Appointment booking
Yes, checks your calendar and texts confirmations
CRM integrations
HighLevel, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Zapier, plus any API or MCP server as an external tool

Goodcall bills per unique caller per month and never meters minutes, so a buyer who calls five times about three listings counts once. Starter covers 100 unique callers for $79 and Growth covers 500 for $129, with every call recorded and transcribed, and it connects to HighLevel.

Pros

  • Never meters minutes, so a nine minute booking costs the same as a 30 second call
  • Repeat callers in the same month count once; spam and wrong numbers do not count
  • Growth plan covers 500 unique callers for $129, the lowest cost at that volume in this group
  • Every call recorded and transcribed, and Gabi runs practice calls before you go live
  • Began inside Google in 2017 (CallJoy, Area 120) and says it is SOC 2 and HIPAA compliant

Cons

  • Answers in English only, per its own How it works page
  • Short native integration list: HighLevel, Google Calendar, Google Sheets and Zapier
  • Its Trustpilot page has only 5 reviews, all 1 star, citing billing after cancellation and unannounced price increases
  • Unique caller billing makes side by side comparison with per call tools harder

Skip it if you want a clean review record or published language support; its Trustpilot page has 5 reviews, all negative.

#6 Most minutes for after hours sign calls

Rosie

AI answering service billed by the minute, from $49 for 250 minutes, built for home service and local businesses.

3.7
Starting price
$49 per month
Minutes or calls included
250, 1,000 or 2,000 minutes
Appointment booking
Google Calendar and Calendly on Scale and up; text booking links on Professional
CRM integrations
Zapier (1,000+ apps)

Rosie's $49 plan includes 250 minutes and $149 includes 1,000, the most included minutes per dollar here, with English and Spanish on every plan. It can run only after hours or on overflow through conditional call forwarding.

Pros

  • $49 for 250 minutes is the lowest cost per included minute on a published plan in this group
  • English and Spanish on every plan
  • Trains itself from your website and Google Business Profile
  • Can run for after hours or overflow only through conditional call forwarding
  • Native iOS and Android apps

Cons

  • Calendar booking and live transfers need the $149 Scale plan
  • No published overage rate, so you cannot model a busy month
  • Only Google Calendar and Calendly natively; CRMs go through Zapier
  • Thin review record: 3.5 on the App Store from 11 ratings and no Trustpilot reviews

Skip it if you need showings booked on the call under $149; the $49 plan only texts booking links.

3.5 out of 5 from 11 reviews on App Store (October 2026).

#7 Best for calls, texts and chat on one meter

Nextiva AI Receptionist (XBert)

Nextiva's XBert AI receptionist answers calls, texts and chats 24/7 for $99 a month per 100 interactions, with booking, CRM links and handoff to your team.

3.6
Starting price

It books through Google Calendar, Calendly and Cal.com, with Zoho live and HubSpot, Salesforce and GoHighLevel on request, backed by a 30 day money back guarantee.

Pros

  • $99 for 100 interactions covers calls, texts and web chat in one bucket
  • Calls under 30 seconds do not count as interactions
  • 30 day money back guarantee and no long term contract
  • Says it is SOC 2 certified and HIPAA compliant

Cons

  • Supported languages are not published
  • ServiceTitan, Salesforce and HubSpot are request based integrations (2 to 4 days)
  • No staffed human backup
  • Trustpilot reviewers describe confusing onboarding and long hold times

Skip it if you need HubSpot or Salesforce on day one; request based integrations take 2 to 4 days, and languages are not published.

4.5 out of 5 from 8,704 reviews on Trustpilot (October 2026).

#8 Best for brokerages replacing the phone system

Dialpad AI Receptionist

AI agent on Dialpad's business phone platform that answers calls, routes them, books appointments and hands off with context, priced on AI agent credits.

3.5
Starting price
Quote only
Minutes or calls included
Not published; AI agent credits
Appointment booking
Yes, books into connected calendars
CRM integrations
Calendar and CRM integrations on Pro and up; partner marketplace

Dialpad's AI receptionist runs inside its business phone platform, with an industry setup for real estate and escalation to agents with the call context. Phone seats start at $15 per user, and Dialpad carries 4.1 on Trustpilot from 3,211 reviews.

Pros

  • AI receptionist runs inside a full business phone and contact center platform
  • Industry setups for legal intake, healthcare, insurance, retail and real estate
  • SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA with a BAA option
  • Escalates to staff with full call context
  • Large public review base: 4.1 on Trustpilot from 3,211 reviews

Cons

  • AI agent pricing is not published
  • Requires Dialpad as your phone system
  • Some reviewers describe slow support and unexplained account suspensions

Skip it if you want a published AI price; AI agent credits are quote only and it requires Dialpad as your phone system.

4.6 out of 5 from 4,563 reviews on App Store (October 2026).

Speed to lead on sign calls and portal leads

Sign calls are short: "what's the price, can I see it Saturday." The AI should answer with the listing facts, ask two or three qualifying questions and offer showing times on the spot. Give it a sheet per active listing with price, beds, baths, square feet, HOA dues, showing instructions and open house times.

Portal leads from Zillow, Realtor.com or your IDX site usually arrive by email or in your CRM, not by phone. No record here lists a native Zillow, Realtor.com or MLS link. What helps is text: Dialzara includes an AI SMS agent and web chat with any voice plan, Nextiva meters calls, texts and chat on one $99 plan, and Rosie sends booking links by text. Pair one of those with your CRM's own auto responder.

Seller calls are worth more and take longer. Script those to capture the address, timeline and reason for selling, then book a listing appointment or transfer to you live. Smith.ai can escalate to a live receptionist; the others transfer to your cell.

Showing scheduling and CRM sync

Here is what each record lists for calendars and CRMs:

Tool Calendars CRM, as listed
Smith.ai Calendly and others HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Make
Upfirst Google, Outlook, Calendly, Acuity Zapier
Ruby Google Calendar, Calendly Follow Up Boss, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho
Dialzara Your calendar Names not published
Goodcall Google Calendar HighLevel, Zapier
Rosie Google, Calendly ($149 plan) Zapier
Nextiva XBert Google, Calendly, Cal.com, Zoho HubSpot, Salesforce, GoHighLevel on request
Dialpad Connected calendars CRM via Dialpad Pro

Follow Up Boss is the CRM most teams ask about, and Ruby is the only record that lists it natively. For AI tools, a Zapier zap that creates a contact and a task from each call summary does the job. Test it with a fake lead before you put the number on a sign.

None of the records lists ShowingTime. The AI books the time on your calendar; you or your showing assistant still request access from the listing side.

Fair housing and what the AI must not say

The Fair Housing Act rules on discriminatory statements cover oral statements, not just ads (24 CFR 100.75). The protected classes are race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status and national origin, and many states add more. Whatever your AI says on the phone is a statement made on your behalf.

Put these limits in the script:

  • No steering. The AI never calls an area good for families, safe, up and coming or a fit for a type of buyer.
  • No school or crime opinions. Point the caller to the school district's site and public crime maps, then to you.
  • No questions about protected traits. Do not ask about children, religion, disability or where a caller is from.
  • Same questions for everyone. Qualifying questions are the same for every caller: timeline, budget, financing, needs in the home.

Read sample transcripts weekly for the first month, and tighten the script if the AI improvises about a neighborhood.

What it costs

Two volumes: a solo agent taking 80 calls a month at 3 minutes (240 minutes), and a team taking 300 calls (900 minutes). Each cell is the cheapest published plan on monthly billing that covers the volume, with overage at the listed rate. For Goodcall we assume about 60 unique callers for the solo agent and about 200 for the team.

Tool Solo agent: 80 calls Team: 300 calls
Rosie $49 (no calendar booking) $149
Upfirst $59.95 $159.95
Goodcall $79 $129
Nextiva XBert $99 $297
Dialzara $108 $349
Smith.ai $162.50 $500
Ruby (live only) $720 plus unpublished overage, or $1,725 Quote (above 500 minute plan)
Dialpad Quote only Quote only

The math:

  • Rosie: Professional covers 250 minutes for $49 but books only by text link; Scale at $149 covers 1,000 minutes with calendar booking.
  • Upfirst: Premium covers 90 calls; Pro covers 300.
  • Goodcall: Starter covers 100 unique callers; Growth covers 500.
  • Nextiva: $99 for 100 interactions, plus 200 at $0.99 for the team.
  • Dialzara: Pro $99 for 220 minutes plus 20 at $0.45; for the team, Elite at $349 for 1,000 minutes beats Plus plus overage ($359).
  • Smith.ai: Pro 75 at $150 plus 5 calls at $2.50; Pro 300 at $500 for the team.
  • Ruby: 240 minutes is past the $720 plan's 200, and overage is not published.

An inside sales assistant or receptionist at the BLS median of $18.27 an hour costs about $3,167 a month in wages, and still does not answer at 9 p.m. on a Sunday. Run your own volume in the cost calculator, track rates in the AI Price Index, and see the full breakdown in AI receptionist cost.

Red flags

  • Steering language in the script or transcripts. Fix it the day you see it.
  • Stale listing data. The AI keeps booking showings on a home that went pending.
  • No CRM sync. A lead that never reaches Follow Up Boss or HubSpot never gets a drip campaign.
  • Per minute plans with no overage rate. Rosie does not publish one; a spring market can blow past the plan.
  • "Integrates with Zillow" claims. None of the records here lists it; ask what that means in writing.
  • Recording without disclosure. Add a line to the greeting; some states require consent from everyone on the call.

How we picked

We used published facts only: pricing pages, product and integration pages and review listings, as of October 2026. We did not place test calls, so we do not grade voice quality. Factor weights are value 25%, features 25%, trust 20%, ease 15% and integrations 15%, as described on how we score. Order is editorial, set on fit for agents and teams: booking on the call, CRM sync, billing that suits short repeat calls and human backup for high value callers.

My AI Front Desk was left out here because its real estate integrations (Yardi, AppFolio, Buildium) serve property managers; see AI answering services for property management.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI receptionist for real estate agents?

Smith.ai is the best fit for most teams: it qualifies leads, books showings, syncs with HubSpot and Salesforce, answers in English and Spanish and escalates to live receptionists. Upfirst is the best value for a solo agent at $59.95 for 90 calls.

Can an AI receptionist book showings?

Yes. Smith.ai, Upfirst, Dialzara, Goodcall, Nextiva and Dialpad book into calendars, and Rosie does from its $149 plan. None of the records lists ShowingTime or a direct MLS link, so showings land on your own calendar and you confirm access with the listing agent.

Does an AI receptionist work with Follow Up Boss?

Ruby is the only record that lists Follow Up Boss natively, and it is a live answering service. For AI tools, connect through Zapier (Smith.ai, Upfirst, Rosie, Goodcall, Nextiva), or check whether your CRM accepts leads by email parsing.

How much does an AI answering service for realtors cost?

On published plans, a solo agent taking 80 calls a month pays $49 to $162.50, and a team taking 300 calls pays $129 to $500. Live answering from Ruby starts at $250 for 50 minutes, and Dialpad is quote only.

Can AI answer questions about a listing?

Yes, if you give it the facts: price, beds and baths, square footage, HOA dues, showing rules and open house times. Load each active listing into its knowledge, and remove it when it goes under contract so the AI does not keep booking showings on a sold home.

What should an AI receptionist never say to a buyer?

Anything that steers by a protected class, such as describing a neighborhood as good for families, safe or right for a certain kind of buyer. It should not comment on schools, crime or who lives in an area. Script it to point callers to public data sources and to you.
