Plaud is the best AI voice recorder for in person meetings and phone calls in October 2026: the Note clips to your phone for calls, the NotePin clips to your shirt for meetings, and both transcribe 112 languages. The free plan includes 300 minutes a month, which is only 5 hours, so most regular users end up paying $99.99 to $239.99 a year on top of the device.

Plaud NotePin and Plaud Note

By Plaud

The best known AI voice recorder for in person meetings and phone calls, with 64 GB on device, 112 languages and 300 free transcription minutes a month on every device. The catch is the subscription: real daily use pushes most owners to Pro ($99.99 a year) or Unlimited ($239.99 a year), and online meetings need the separate Plaud Desktop app.

What it is

Plaud makes small hardware recorders paired with an AI app, Plaud Intelligence. You press record on the device, it stores audio locally (64 GB on every model), and the app transcribes, labels speakers and writes summaries with templates. Plaud says 2.5M+ professionals use it, including lawyers and clinicians.

The line up in October 2026:

Pricing explained

The device is a one time purchase. The AI runs on a membership:

Plan Monthly Annual Transcription
Starter Free Free 300 minutes a month
Pro $17.99 $99.99 a year ($8.33 a month) 1,200 minutes a month
Unlimited $29.99 $239.99 a year ($20 a month) Unlimited, up to 24 hours a day per user
Team n/a $20 to $25 per user per month, billed annually Unlimited, central workspace, DPA

Prices as listed on Plaud's Plaud Intelligence page in October 2026. All plans include the same 112 languages, 10,000+ templates and model access.

What 300 free minutes means. Five hours a month. That covers one weekly hour long meeting. Two client meetings a week will push you to Pro.

Pro vs Unlimited. Pro's 1,200 minutes is 20 hours a month. If you record more than about an hour every working day, Unlimited at $239.99 a year is the safer buy.

Annual billing is the only sensible choice. Pro is $215.88 a year on monthly billing against $99.99 annual, a 54% saving.

Two year cost of ownership. Device plus Pro annual for two years adds $199.98 in subscriptions. Device plus Unlimited adds $479.98. Compare that with Otter Pro annual ($199.92 over two years) for software only capture.

Key features

Recording that works anywhere

Press and record: in a conference room, at a job site, in a car, on a walk. No meeting app, no bot, no internet needed to record. This is the core reason to buy hardware instead of a software note taker.

Phone call capture

The Note and Note Pro use a vibration conduction sensor that picks up the phone's internal sound when attached to the back of the phone, so both sides of a call are captured. The Note Pro switches between call and in person mode on its own.

Transcription and speaker labels

112 languages with speaker diarization and custom vocabulary (beta), on every plan.

Summaries and templates

10,000+ summary templates by role and industry, custom templates and "multidimensional" summaries (beta) that produce different views of one conversation. Plaud lists GPT-5.5, Gemini 3.1 Pro and Claude Sonnet 4.6 as available models.

Multimodal input and highlights

Add typed notes, photos and highlights (press the button on the NotePin S or Note) so the summary knows what mattered to you.

Ask Plaud and AutoFlow

Ask questions across recordings, and use AutoFlow to transcribe and summarize automatically when a recording syncs.

Plaud Desktop and Web

Plaud Desktop captures online meetings on your computer without a bot. Plaud Web and the iOS and Android apps keep everything in one workspace, with Google Calendar integration and a Plaud MCP server in beta.

What users say

Plaud has one of the largest review bases of any AI product we track: Plaud Note 4.5 on Amazon from 5,420 ratings, NotePin S 4.4 from 1,314, NotePin 4.2 from 1,352, the Plaud app 4.9 on the App Store from 23,664 ratings, and 4.7 on Trustpilot from 2,829 reviews, as listed in October 2026.

Amazon's review summaries for the Note and NotePin highlight accurate transcription, clear audio for meetings and lectures, and useful summaries and mind maps. They also flag the same two concerns on every model: buyers split on whether it is worth the money once the subscription is added, and some report Bluetooth connection problems with iPhones. NotePin S and Note Pro summaries add a few reports of charging stopping after weeks of use.

On Trustpilot, praise centers on transcription accuracy, organized notes, build quality and fast support. Complaints cover connection and sync problems between devices and accounts, and slow replacements for faulty units.

Privacy and security

  • Certifications: ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR and EN 18031 listed on every plan, plus the Australian Privacy Act.
  • Training: Plaud says conversation data is not used to train models unless the user explicitly opts in.
  • Local storage: recordings stay on the device's 64 GB until you sync; local data is encrypted, according to the Amazon listing.
  • Teams: the Team plan adds a Data Processing Agreement.
  • Consent: a small pin is easy to forget about. Plaud's own listing asks you to tell people and get their okay before recording. In states that require all party consent, recording a conversation secretly can be illegal.

Who it is for

  • Professionals who meet in person: lawyers, consultants, real estate agents, clinicians, contractors.
  • People who take business calls on a mobile phone and want a record of both sides.
  • Students recording lectures and researchers recording interviews.
  • Multilingual users, given 112 languages.

Who should skip it

  • People whose meetings are all on Zoom, Meet or Teams. Fathom is free and unlimited.
  • Anyone who will not pay a subscription. At 5 free hours a month, Plaud's free tier is thin; Comulytic and Pocket offer unlimited free transcription (see best AI voice recorders).
  • People who need a live transcript during the meeting. Use Otter.

Alternatives

  • Best AI voice recorders: Plaud Note Pro, Comulytic Note Pro and Pocket compared.
  • Otter.ai: phone app recording with a live transcript.
  • Krisp: bot free capture for calls on your computer and phone.
  • Granola: free mobile app for in person meetings.

Verdict

Plaud earned its lead in AI voice recorders on real strengths: hardware that records anywhere, call capture that phone apps cannot match, 112 languages and a review base in the thousands. Buy the Note if you take calls, the NotePin S if you meet in person. Budget for the subscription from day one, because 5 free hours a month is a trial, not a plan: Pro at $99.99 a year for moderate use, Unlimited at $239.99 if you record daily.

Frequently asked questions

Is Plaud worth it?

For people who record in person meetings or phone calls every week, yes. Plaud captures conversations no software note taker can reach, transcribes 112 languages and holds 4.5 on Amazon from 5,420 ratings for the Plaud Note. If your meetings are all on Zoom, Meet or Teams, a free software tool like Fathom is the cheaper answer.

Does Plaud require a subscription?

No. Every Plaud device comes with the free Starter plan and 300 transcription minutes a month. Pro adds 1,200 minutes for $17.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and Unlimited removes the cap (up to 24 hours a day) for $29.99 a month or $239.99 a year.

Plaud NotePin vs Plaud Note: which should I buy?

Buy the Note if you record phone calls; it attaches magnetically to the back of your phone and uses a vibration conduction sensor to capture both sides of a call. Buy the NotePin if you want a wearable for in person meetings and walking conversations; it weighs 0.59 oz and clips, pins or hangs on a lanyard or wristband. The NotePin S adds a tactile record button, press to highlight and all four accessories.

How long does the Plaud battery last?

Plaud lists up to 30 hours of continuous recording and 60 days of standby for the Note, and up to 20 hours of recording and 40 days of standby for the NotePin and NotePin S. The Note Pro is listed at up to 50 hours on Plaud's comparison chart.

Can Plaud record Zoom and Teams meetings?

The free Plaud Desktop app captures online meetings on your computer without a bot joining the call, and the recordings land in the same Plaud workspace as your device recordings.

Is Plaud safe for confidential conversations?

Plaud lists ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR and EN 18031 compliance and says conversation data is not used to train models unless you opt in. Recordings are stored on the device until you sync them. You still need consent to record people under your local law.

What languages does Plaud support?

Plaud transcribes 112 languages with speaker labels on every plan, including the free Starter plan.

Does Plaud work without the internet?

Recording does. The devices store up to 64 GB of audio locally, so you can record anywhere. Transcription and summaries happen after you sync to the Plaud app, which needs a connection.
